This one-week escorted tour with Insight Vacations, which coincides with the vibrant colours of New England’s spectacular ‘fall’ season, will take you from historic Boston’s museums and art galleries out into the region’s picturesque countryside. Here, you’ll drive through the rolling Berkshire Hills to the magnificent White Mountains, stop off at old world villages and artisanal working farms, and see the exclusive mansions of Kennebunkport on Maine’s Atlantic coast. You’ll also be looked after by highly experienced guides every step of the way, as well as enjoying chauffeur driven UK airport transfers either side of your trip.

After a private door-to-door transfer in the UK, board your flight to Boston. You’ll be met on arrival and taken to your downtown hotel, perfectly located for an afternoon stroll around New England’s largest city. This evening, you’ll enjoy a welcome reception.

Williamstown
Discover some of Boston’s most famous sights on a guided tour of the Freedom Trail before a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum, the largest and most significant collection of original Rockwell art. This afternoon you’ll head through the rolling Berkshire Hills to Williamstown, a picturesque college town.

Stowe
Leave Massachusetts and drive through the blushing reds and deep browns of Vermont’s autumn on the way to Stowe. You’ll stop off at the picturesque Quechee Gorge, tour a working dairy and farm life museum and visit the quintessential Vermont village, Woodstock. It was Stowe’s alpine setting that became home to the Von Trapp family of Sound of Music fame, following their escape from Nazi-occupied Austria.

Sample cider and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream accompanied by views of Mount Mansfield, Vermont’s tallest peak. A three-course dinner is included on day three, where meals are paired with craft lagers from the lodge’s brewery.

North Conway
In the morning, visit a maple syrup farm to get a taste of a Vermont’s favourite – ‘sugar on snow’ (a doughnut served with maple syrup and pickle). You’ll then take an aerial tramway over the White Mountains before driving through the dazzling crimson and orange hues of the famed Kancamagus Scenic Byway.

North Conway
The next morning, you’ll enjoy an interpretive presentation on the area’s wildlife and ecology before visiting Silver Cascade Waterfall. From here, a walk in Bretton Woods will bring you to views of Mount Washington, the tallest peak in the northeast at 6,288 feet tall. Dinner is included on day five.

Maine Coast/Portland
Leaving New Hampshire you’ll travel through the pine forests of western Maine on your way to Kennebunkport. This charming town is home to quaint galleries and shops while ambling walks will bring you away from the waterfront to retreats of the rich and famous, including the summer home of George H. W. Bush. You’ll then continue to historic Portland where you’ll enjoy dinner in a local restaurant.

Depart Boston
Stop off at the flower-filled lanes and wooden fishing shacks of Rockport, a charming seaside village. Do some last minute shopping at its whimsical stores and art galleries before heading on to Boston and your flight back to the UK, arriving on day 9.

Arrive back in the UK after your overnight flight and continue your onward journey home.
