At Wexas our aim is simple – to help you create your perfect tailor-made holiday, and to organise it flawlessly. It's something we've been doing successfully now for 50 years. So, whether you’re interested in wildlife, culture, adventure or relaxation, our destination specialists will help you arrange every element of your holiday, right down to the smallest detail, and all tailored to suit your own, individual requirements. That, after all, is the beauty of tailor-made travel. You decide where you want to go, how long for, what to see and who to see it with. The rest is taken care of by us.
Wexas Travel was established by current chairman Dr Ian Wilson in 1970, and, over the past five decades, has grown from a small, independent operator, to one of the UK’s most respected travel companies, endorsed by such honorary presidents as Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Kate Adie, John Simpson and Michael Palin.
During that time, Wexas has moved on from its humble beginnings supporting student and explorer expeditions to, in the 1980s and 1990s, being one of the top-10 sellers of airline tickets in the UK, and becoming the country's leading membership club for luxury travellers. Indeed, Wexas' continued success has been its ability to adapt to the needs of its clients, from the introduction of annual multi-trip travel insurance in 1982 – Wexas was among the first travel companies to offer this service – to the opening of a still-flourishing corporate division, Wexas Travel Management, and the 2007 launch of White Star Cruises, now rebranded as The Luxury Cruise Company. Further additions to the Wexas portfolio include the acquisition of Best Served Scandinavia in 2010, which has since grown to become the UK's second-largest tour operator specialising in Scandinavia and the Nordics.
It’s a great source of pride that, to this day, Wexas remains a privately owned, family business. It's a fact that enables us to put you, our customer, at the heart of everything we do.
Talk to the experts
It's hard to overstate the benefit of talking to an expert when it comes to planning your holiday. All of our specialists have travelled extensively in the regions they specialise in and have often lived or worked there. They have an unbiased, informed approach to planning holidays, and will offer suggestions based on first-hand knowledge and an average of more than ten years experience in travel. Every itinerary is designed around your individual needs and budget. We insist our experts return regularly to their specialist regions to find out what's new and to re-evaluate the old, so you can be assured of an up-to-date opinion.
We like to treat our clients as we like to be treated ourselves. Our specialists pride themselves on their level of personal service and will do more than just organise your holiday logistics. Instead they'll take time to get to know you as a traveller. That way they can make informed suggestions as you work together to plan a holiday you'll love. Our aim is simple – to help you create your ideal tailor-made holiday and to organise it flawlessly.
We believe that it's unfair to just show you 'from' prices that relate to the low season, when you may not want to travel. That's why we've indicated both low and high season prices. Even so, these are just guide prices and may not take into account peak travel periods such as Christmas. Your specialist will provide a quote based on your exact preferences.
Wexas holds an Air Travel Organisers Licence (ATOL), issued by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 2873. All travel arrangements that include a flight are therefore ATOL-protected, meaning your money is safe in our hands. Wexas is also a member of ABTA, the Association of British Travel Agents. Our ABTA number is 91989/V2128.
Wexas Travel Foundation
The Wexas Travel Foundation is a registered charity and non-profit division of Wexas, designed to raise money for deserving charities and projects worldwide, with a social or environmental focus. Previous projects include helping Africa Foundation build a much-needed classroom in an under-resourced school in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, and raising money for Cool Earth to protect endangered sections of the South American rainforest and build water tanks for a school in Papua New Guinea. In 2015, we also supported the recovery effort after the devastating earthquakes in Nepal.
