Day by day itinerary
Depart UK, Arrive San Francisco
On your first day, fly from the UK to San Francisco. After a private transfer from the airport, spend the rest of the day relaxing with the Fairmont Hotel’s breathtaking bay views. With its downtown location, you might want to take a stroll along some of the city’s famous inclines.
The next morning, your private guide will take you through San Francisco’s crooked streets on a half-day tour of the city’s sights, including the iconic Golden Gate Bridge and atmospheric Fisherman’s Wharf. You’ll also see Chinatown, Pacific Heights and the Golden Gate Park with each trip tailored to guests’ tastes. The rest of the day is your own.
Stay: Fairmont San Francisco (Deluxe)
Pick up your hire car and follow the scenic California coastline down to the rolling vineyards, Comstock cottages and fine restaurants of artsy Carmel. The next day, drive to nearby Monterey where an optional ocean safari will get close to orcas, blue whales and dolphins. In the afternoon, educate yourself on the morning’s activities at Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Stay: Bernardus Lodge & Spa, Carmel Valley (Deluxe)
Stop off at stately homes, which hark back to the Roaring Twenties, on your way to coastal Santa Barbara’s colonial Spanish adobe. Known as the Riviera of America, its picturesque streets and swaying palm trees are the perfect springboard into the delights of the surrounding wine country. Or, if you’d like a rest from driving, simply walk through its charming streets and head to the quaint seaside zoo. Spend two nights at the exceptional Belmond El Encanto, set amid verdant hills with dazzling ocean views.
Stay: Belmond El Encanto, Santa Barbara (Deluxe)
Continue down the stunning coastline, before arriving at your home for the next two nights – Beverley Hills’ legendary ‘Pink Palace’. Located on 12 acres of lush tropical gardens and exotic flowers, this is one of the most iconic hotels in America. Slip into LA’s laid-back beach culture on some optional excursions as you learn to paddleboard at Marina del Rey or perhaps take part in a guided cycle tour along the boardwalks of Santa Monica and Venice Beach.

Las Vegas & The Grand Canyon
Head inland to the bright neon oasis that is Las Vegas, home to fabled casinos and world-class shows. Check into the Mandarin Oriental; located in the centre of Vegas’s infamous strip, you’ll have everything on your doorstep while enjoying the hotel’s relaxed atmosphere.
