Jaw-dropping wilderness beauty with a strong eco-friendly focus
Activity adventure | Natural world | Off the beaten track | Safari | Wildlife
Nestled in the Huab River Valley surrounded by low hills, Damaraland Camp by Wilderness Safaris was one of the earliest camps in this area. Its secluded location makes provides a great base from which to explore the many attractions of this richly diverse region.
Ten thatched cottages, raised on platforms above the desert, have each been recently renovated with en suite facilities, walk-in dressing areas and fans.
Breakfast offers guests a choice of cereals, fresh fruits, cooked breakfasts, pancakes and freshly-baked muffins, breads, cold meats and cheeses. Light lunches including Greek salads, vegetables and rice are served, followed by a real treat for dinner. The waiter announces the dinner menu in the Damara language, three courses, with menu items including game goulash and fresh vegetable soup.
The focus of activities at Damaraland Camp is undoubtedly on wildlife, with options including guided nature walks, game drives to see elephant, rhino and cheetah and a trail to view the rock art at the memorable Twyfelfontein World Heritage Site. Other facilities include a swimming pool, living area and an outdoor boma.
