Belmond Eagle Island Lodge, Okavango Delta

Location

Reopened late 2015 after a major revamp, Belmond Eagle Island Lodge is set amid the vast wetlands of one of the world's largest inland water systems, Botswana's Okavango Delta, which stretches across an area of 16,000 square kilometres and supports a quite breathtaking array of bird, animal, fish and plant life. This beautiful, wildlife-rich region of lagoons, channels, tributaries and floodplains is home to elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, lion, cheetah, leopard, zebra, wild dog and a plethora of birdlife totalling more than 400 species.

Accommodation

The lodge's luxury rooms are raised up on wooden platforms and offer wonderful views of the surrounding delta. The twelve spacious rooms offer outdoor decks with a vista, private plunge pools, reading nooks, outdoor and indoor showers and walk-in wardrobes. Local materials are used throughout.

Dining

The dining area is atmospheric and stylish, complete with a pizza oven, while the lounge area is home to a sophisticated bar and library. The Fish Eagle Bar offers the best place to experience the African sunset and views across the Delta, where light snacks and refreshing drinks are available throughout the day. Intimate private dining can also be arranged in this romantic venue, or simply enjoy the superb cuisine and fine wine beneath the star-studded African sky on the deck of your room.

Facilities

Guests, as well as enjoying a number of exciting safari experiences including guided game drives, mokoro (traditional canoe) safaris, helicopter safaris, stargazing and cultural tours, have access to some superb lodge facilities. These include a 20-metre pool, al fresco dining, the romantic Fish Eagle Bar, a curio shop, same day laundry service and internet access and satellite TV away from the main lounge.
