Day by day itinerary
UK to Toronto
Begin your holiday in relaxing fashion with included airport lounge access before your daytime flight to Toronto and transfer to your city-centre hotel. Then, on day two, head out to see the sights of this vibrant city whose melting pot of cultures and numerous attractions make it a joy to explore. Be sure to visit some of Toronto’s world-leading museums and art galleries with the excellent Royal Ontario Museum hosting exhibits that range from contemporary art and culture to science and natural history.
Stay: Le Germain Toronto (Superior)
Collect your hire car and follow the curves of Lake Ontario to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a peaceful base for taking in the sights of nearby Niagara Falls. Here, an included Adventure Pass will let you enjoy its headline attractions; there’s the classic Hornblower Cruise and Behind the Falls adventure, or you might choose to splash out on an optional helicopter cruise to see its crashing torrents from above.
Stay: The Pillar & Post (Superior)
Travel north to the pretty town of Blue Mountains on the shores of Georgian Bay. Then, spend the day at a nearby mountain resort where year-round fun ranges from downhill skiing in winter to scenic summertime hikes.
Stay: The Westin Trillium House, The Blue Mountains, Ontario (Deluxe)
Drive along the pretty shores of Lake Huron to Tobermory where you might choose to hike the famed Bruce Trail to take in the Niagara Escarpment’s rugged beauty or explore the craggy shorelines and old-growth forests of Bruce Peninsula National Park. Or, let scuba diving, snorkelling and glass-bottom boat tours showcase the shipwrecks of Fathom Five National Marine Park.
Stay: Tobermory Princess Hotel
Take the ferry to Manitoulin, the world’s largest freshwater island. Beautiful and utterly remote, its a place of jagged granite outcrops, hidden runes and out-of-the-way communities with names such as Sheguiandah and Wikwemikong. You'll have two days here, so perhaps look to head out on a hike, taking in waterfall-dotted forests, or try your hand at fishing along sparkling rivers and on crystal-clear lakes. There's also sailing, golf and horse riding in summer, while the winters sees everything from snowmobiling and skating to cross-country skiing making the most of heavy snowfall.
Stay: Manitoulin Hotel
