Ice hotels | Northern Lights
With just seven spectacularly carved rooms, this is your chance to stay in a boutique ice hotel, replete with stunningly lit ice bar and restaurant. And, enjoying an included spread of delicious meals and expert-led excursions, you’ll explore among the fjords and snow-dappled mountains of Arctic Norway on dogsledding trips and snowshoeing jaunts under the Northern Lights. With transfers included throughout, it all begins with a harbour-side stay in Tromso – Norway’s Arctic capital. Not only is it perfectly positioned for the aurora borealis, but there’s a full range of winter fun on its buzzy doorstep.
Day by day itinerary
Flying out into the depths of Arctic Norway, you’ll arrive into Tromso, where an included transfer will see you to one of its finest hotels – an ultra-contemporary property set right on its fjord. Then, with two nights here, you’ll have plenty of time to taste your way through the town’s superb bar-and-dining scene, summit its mountain-top cable car and explore its explorer heritage, showcased in museums and a handful of clapboard-heritage buildings. There’s also a full range of optional winter fun, from snowmobiling and ice fishing to cross-country skiing and whale-watching tours. Just remember to keep your eyes peeled for the Northern Lights each evening.

Tromso Ice Domes: Snowshoeing under the Northern Lights
After a full day to further explore Tromso and its fjord-riven surrounds, an included, early-evening transfer will see you out through snow-clad valleys to the Tromso Ice Domes. Here, great, carved sculptures and ethereally lit designs play out everywhere from your cosy room to the ice bar, cinema and restaurant. You’ll also meet your expert guide, who’ll take you on a tour of the hotel before you strap on snowshoes to head out into the surrounding wilderness. Enjoying dinner prepared over an open fire, your eyes will turn skywards in search of the Northern Lights.
