Day by day itinerary

Day 1

Arrive in Calgary on a daytime flight from the UK and check in to your overnight airport hotel.

Stay: Delta Calgary Airport Hotel

Day 2

Today you head north with a flight to Yellowknife, on arrival transfer to your hotel by shuttle. Shortly afterwards you will be picked up for an informative guided 1.5 hour tour of Yellowknife which includes a drive along an ice road. At the end of the tour, you'll be given your outdoor winter clothing before returning to the hotel. An orientation of your trip will be held this evening prior to your first Aurora Viewing. This evening, guests will be taken to a viewing point outside the city. Typically, there are curtains of white, blue and green colours in this natural light show. Treats and hot beverages are included tonight.

*All efforts are made to ensure guests see the Aurora. These packages provide successive nights of opportunity. On clear nights, there is almost a 100% success rate in viewing the Aurora. When the sky is overcast, viewing is difficult to predict, therefore we cannot guarantee that guests will see the Aurora at all times as viewing is very much weather dependent.

Stay: Capital Suites Yellowknife

Days 3-4

Enjoy a two-hour tour of Yellowknife. The city quite literally has a rich history. Gold was discovered here in 1934, attracting prospectors and eventually settlers. The tunnels of the gold mines lie directly under the city's modern streets. More recently, diamonds were discovered just north of the city, assuring Yellowknife of a prosperous future for years to come. Highlights of the tour include the Old Town, the Prince of Wales Heritage Centre and the N'Dilo Indian Village. The following day is left free for you to enjoy the city and its spectacular surroundings. A further Aurora viewing session is included on the first evening, with warm drinks provided as you watch the skies from around a blazing bonfire.
