About

Recommended for:
Activity adventure | Beach | Natural world | Relaxation | Sports & activities

Make the most of your Hawaiian adventure with an itinerary that knits together the highlights of four islands, all the while staying in luxury, private-beach accommodation. Begin in Oahu where you’ll find world-class surf and be introduced to the atrocities of Pearl Harbor – to be explored on a tour of the island. Head across to Kauai; known as the ‘Garden Island’, an extensive tour will introduce you to its rich range of verdure. Then there are the sleepy delights of the Big Island (Hawai’i) to be enjoyed before finishing with the almost overwhelming range of watersports and land-based activities of Maui. Throughout, excellent tours from local guides will introduce you to the history and geography of these magical islands.

Day by day itinerary

Days 1-2
UK/Oahu

Arriving on a day flight from the UK, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred to the Kahala for a three-night stay. Set on Oahu’s southeastern coast, it’s one of the island's most luxurious hotels complete with its own dolphin lagoon and an 800-foot stretch of ivory sand where you can take part in complimentary surf lessons. You’ll also be welcomed with a traditional lei greeting. On your second day, you’ll explore Oahu at your leisure. Known as the ‘gathering place’, it’s a collection of all that makes Hawaii great: surf giant waves, dive into its underwater worlds or simply relax on its fantastic beaches.

Stay: The Kahala, Oahu, Hawaii (Deluxe)

Day 3
Oahu

On your final day on Oahu, you’ll tour the infamous Pearl Harbor. Start by stepping aboard the USS Arizona Memorial, which now floats above the resting place of this once-proud ship. Here, you’ll get an introduction into the events of December 7, 1941 and bear witness to the marble wall, hand-engraved with the names of those still entombed in the vessel below. You’ll then return to the mainland for a drive through the National Cemetery of the Pacific before a narrated tour of downtown Honolulu’s historic sights. You’ll visit the grandiose Iolani Palace, the palm-tree fringed State Capitol, the statue of King Kamehameha and the early 19th-century Kawaihao Church and Mission Houses.

Stay: The Kahala, Oahu, Hawaii (Deluxe)

Day 4
Oahu/Kauai

A private transfer will bring you to the airport for the first of your island hops. After the short flight, you’ll transfer to Koa Kea resort on Kauai’s sunny southern shore – a premier destination for diving, surfing and snorkelling. For that idyllic aloha charm, enjoy the use of the spa and pool, complete with whirlpool facilities and a convivial bar. You’ll have the first day to relax at your leisure or explore the six million year-old charms of the island’s diverse ecosystems, ranging from green-carpeted mountains and jungle interiors to snaking waterways.

Stay: Koa Kea, Kaui, Hawaii (Superior)

Day 5
Kauai

On your second day on Kauai, an experienced local guide will bring you to some of its most impressive natural sights. You’ll enjoy a cruise along Wailua River – beset on both sides by stunning greenery – as you visit Captain Cook’s historic landing site. There’s also the secluded Fern Grotto, the triplicate cascades of the Opaekaa Falls and the wave-fuelled, geyser-like Spouting Horn. However, the undisputed highlight is a trip to Waimea Canyon. Termed the ‘Grand Canyon of the Pacific’, it’s a 14-mile long collection of crested buttes, jagged crags and carved valley gorges, all impossibly coated in bright green – a remarkable contrast to the red rock beneath.

Stay: Koa Kea, Kaui, Hawaii (Superior)

Day 6
Kauai/Kona

Your next private transfer will bring you to your inter-island flight to the aptly named ‘Big Island’ (Hawai’i) where you’ll be transferred to your beachside accommodation on the idyllic west coast. Your hotel’s 32 acres of oceanfront feature more than the natural white sand beach; there’s a state-of-the-art fitness facility, an 18-hole golf course and a collection of excellent restaurants. Relax here or set out to explore lava deserts and emerald mountains – ideal for hikes.

Stay: Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel (Deluxe)

Day 7
Kona

Today, you’ll be treated to an extensive tour that brings you up to volcanoes and down to black sand beaches as you make your way through everything from rich agricultural fields and ranch lands to coffee farms and tropical forests filled with swaying vines. Highlights include visits to a macadamia nut factory, an orchid nursery, the desolate Kilauea Iki Crater, picturesque Kealakekua Bay, bluffs steeped in steam and a tube-shaped lava cave. You’ll also experience the world-renowned Volcanoes National Park and a nearby observatory where, if you’re lucky, you can watch still-smoking eruptions.

Stay: Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel (Deluxe)

Days 8-10
Kona/Maui

Board a flight to Maui, often referred to as the ‘adventure island’, enjoying private transfers on each side. You’ll stay at Fairmont Kea Lani, Hawaii’s only all-suite-and-villa beachside resort. Tear yourself away from the beach, pool and spa for hikes up Haleakala’s volcanic inclines, past waterfalls and along ravines. Or, take to the waters for whale-watching, sailing, snorkelling, diving and windsurfing.

In between your two free days, you’ll be taken on a tour along the winding coastal roads to Hana – one of the most scenic drives that America, let alone Hawaii, has to offer. Local guides will bring the breathtaking views of waterfalls, picturesque bays, rainforests and even vineyards to life with their expert narration on the storied region’s fascinating past and geography.

Stay: Fairmont Kea Lani (Deluxe)

Day 11
Honolulu/UK

After a connection back to Honolulu, you’ll board your flight back to the UK arriving on day 12.

Day 12
Arrive UK

Following the overnight flight back, continue your onward journey in the UK back home.
