Tucked deep into the Boreal forest of the Canadian North you will find a remote, wilderness lodge experience like no other in Ontario. Reached by private aircraft from Thunder Bay fly over hundreds of untouched lakes and uninhabited islands to arrive at Miminska Lodge, which sits on the shores of Lake Miminiska. Expect stunning landscapes, remarkable wildlife and a deep-rooted history, which is integral to the Ontario wilderness.
In the most pristine of settings you’ll find private lakefront cabins with ensuite bathrooms offering a very comfortable place to stay. This is a place where you can canoe or kayak with a First Nations interpretive guide who grew up on the lake in order to learn how his ancestors travelled these very same waterways hundreds of years ago. Spend a morning learning to catch your own pike or walleye, jump on a paddleboard, swim, or embrace the peaceful surroundings with a sunset yoga session. Taste local craft beer as you toast marshmallows over a bonfire under a million stars and if you are incredibly lucky, maybe just maybe see the Northern Lights!
Miminiska Lodge is reached by a one hour private charter flight from Thunder Bay, which is just under a 2 hour flight from Toronto.
Accommodation here is in lakefront A-frame cabins which have a private bathroom, sitting area with comfortable seating and bar area with fridge and wood burning stove. Fresh coffee is delivered to your door each morning and meals are chef prepared using the freshest of local ingredients. Lunches are usually gourmet affairs served on a wilderness lake shore and pre dinner drinks poured on the overwater dock as the sun sets.
There is a guest lounge in the main lodge with a fire place and comfy seating, a billiards table and a games room overlooking the lake, outdoor sauna and breakfast and dinner is served in the dining room.
