It lies around an hour’s drive from Hastings and an hour and 20 minutes from Napier, while the nearest main town is Waipukurau, around 25 minutes away.

Some ingredients, such as truffles, are grown on the grounds of the estate itself. Mornings begin with gourmet breakfasts prepared by award-winning chef Chris Stockdale – think freshly baked sourdough bread, homemade jams and egg dishes cooked to order – while thoughtfully curated lunch and dinner tasting menus showcase sustainable, farm-to-table dining paired with exquisite regional wines.

Guests can enjoy access to the homestead’s gardens, a heated pool pavilion and cosy lounge spaces with open fireplaces. Wallingford Homestead can also arrange a variety of tours and experiences in the Hawke’s Bay region, including fly fishing, helicopter tours and golf.
