The Fairmont Empress stands guard over the Inner Harbour and is regarded as one of Victoria’s most iconic hotels. First opened in 1908, the hotel is synonymous with style and elegance; enjoying afternoon tea here is regarded as a ‘must-do’ experience when in Victoria.
Standing on the Inner Harbour this hotel is ideally situated for exploring many of the local attractions and also those further afield, which include whale watching tours, scenic sea plane flights and helicopter flights. Victoria airport is 30 minutes away and the hotel offers both valet and self parking.
There are 477 rooms offering views of the city, gardens, courtyard or Inner Harbour. Fairmont Gold is a dedicated concierge service, offering exclusive use of the Fairmont Gold Lounge that overlooks the Inner Harbour, complimentary daily breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres, in addition to an honour bar.
An extensive renovation of the hotel will commence in October 2015.
The Empress Room offers award-winning food and wine in an elegant atmosphere while the hotel's British colonial past is present in The Bengal Lounge's famous curry buffet. Afternoon tea has been served at the hotel for more than 100 years and is something of a ritual, the chef and team prepare delectable pastries and treats daily to accompany The Empress Tea, an original blend created for the Fairmont Empress, served in dainty William Edwards china. The gentle tinkle of a piano completes the ambiance. The Veranda is open during the summer months and the perfect spot for a refreshing drink overlooking the harbour.
There is a fully equipped gym, indoor pool and whirlpool while the award-winning Willow Stream Spa provides the perfect place to relax and unwind. The hotel also runs an Artist in Residence programme and offers baby sitting services.
