Little Palm Island lies just off the shore of Little Torch Key. Only accessible by a complimentary motor yacht, the resort enjoys all the sunsets, sandy beaches and turquoise waters of Florida Keys while maintaining a sense of seclusion. The island is, then, an excellent springboard for backcountry and deep sea fishing while its underwater world is perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving. There are also dolphins and eco-tours that take in sea turtles, herons and even bald eagles.
Lodging is in luxury thatched roof bungalows with striking vaulted ceilings. Iron and teak fans laze slowly as you make the most of your private deck with ocean views. Wooden interiors and the separate living area are complemented by subtle, West Indies accents while bathrooms feature outdoor showers, shaded by bamboo screens, and indoor hot tubs. The Island Elegance Suite offers something that bit more special with mother of pearl tiles, crystal sconces and chandeliers while the oversized Island Romance Suites come with an expansive verandah and an extra large hot tub.
Little Palm Island features Zagat’s Best Hotel Dining experience in Florida – number three in the US. The restaurant’s seasonally fresh menu blends French and Pan-Latin flavours in dishes such as yellowtail snapper ceviche with passion fruit and coconut gelée. If you’d prefer some intimacy, take your evening meal by tiki torch light on the beach or under the thatched roof of an ocean gazebo. On request, sit at the chef’s table where a five to seven course degustation menu allows an exclusive glimpse into the world of high-end gastronomy.
Unlike parts of the Florida Keys, on Little Palm Island you’ll find idyllic, secluded beaches that are yours alone to enjoy. Pools are equally sequestered among the lush greenery and palm trees while those looking for literary relaxation can make use of the library’s armchairs.
