Chada Katavi is located in the far west of Tanzania, far-removed from the tourist trail on the edge of the Chada plain. The camp has just six spacious, furnished tents that afford awe-inspiring views of the plains and passing wildlife. The Katavi National Park is made up of a series of flood plains which draw thousands of animals in the dry season as water becomes scarce, including elephants, buffalo and crocodile, hyenas and lion.
Enjoy bush walks with your ranger to get up close to animals that would usually take fright when approached by a vehicle. Opt to try fly-camping for the night, sleeping under the stars with just the sounds of the bush to keep you company.
We like: Sundowners around the camp fire while sharing stories of the day's safari and exhilarating animal encounters.
Best for: Immersing yourself in the bush.
