Location
Camp Okavango is tucked away on the remote Nxaragha Island, in the heart of the Okavango Delta. A meandering network of waterways, vast lagoons and deep lakes surround this wilderness outpost, making up the world's largest inland delta. Camp Okavango offers the chance to see everything from elephants to big cats in their natural habitats, on water-based safaris and bush walks.
Accommodation
With room for just 24 guests across 12 luxury suites, Camp Okavango promises a peaceful and intimate safari experience. Eleven Safari suites and one Family suite – with two bedrooms – hover over the lush riverside vegetation on raised wooden platforms. Set apart from each other for privacy, each suite has a private open-air viewing deck for unrivalled views across the Okavango. The decor is just as you'd expect from a luxury safari camp, with rustic furnishing, airy linens and warm, earthy tones.
Dining
Meals at Camp Okavango are served in the open-air dining area, under thatch and open to the sights and sounds of the Delta. Enjoy a fresh breakfast before the morning’s adventure, a buffet-style lunch back at camp and multi-course dinners by candlelight. Private dinners and bush meals can also be arranged for a more personal experience, often enjoyed on the camp’s expansive deck or at a secret Delta location.
Facilities
A network of walkways connect the various main areas of Camp Okavango with the stilted accommodation. Two lounge areas, a dining room, library, self-service bar and unique curio shop are joined by sweeping ramps to a lower level deck, complete with two open-air fire pits for relaxing and socialising. A third deck boasts a rim flow swimming pool and thatched lounge deck for soaking up the sun. The excursions are the highlight of any stay here, though. Expert professional guides will bring you through reed-lined waterways by modern motorboat or traditional mokoro, pausing for guided bush walks on nearby islands. Track lions, elephants and hippos, go fishing in the water or birdwatch from the boat. Camp Okavango is a water-based camp and game-drive activities using safari vehicles, are not possible. Scenic helicopter flights over the Okavango Delta are available from Camp Okavango at an additional charge.
