Natural world | Relaxation
Set on a mountain originally named 'Sleeping Buffalo' by the region's first Nations people, this rustic mountain-style lodge offers comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting. The location is peaceful, yet only 15 minute walk from the centre of Banff. The lodge is furnished in rustic style with lots of natural stone, hand-hewn timbers and high vaulted ceilings and is surrounded by fragrant spruce, pine and fir trees. Elk and deer are frequent visitors who often graze on the lawns outside the lodge windows.
Buffalo Mountain Lodge is located a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the centre of Banff. Banff itself is a 1½ hour drive from Calgary on the Trans-Canada Highway. Parking is available and there is also a complimentary shuttle between the lodge and downtown Banff. A Park Pass is required for anyone entering the park and these can be purchased online. Please ask us for more details.
All 108 guest rooms feature wood-burning fireplaces which are replenished daily and many rooms offer a private balcony or terrace. The Premier Rooms are the most spacious with a comfy seating area and large bathroom with claw foot baths, separate shower and heated slate floors.
The Sleeping Buffalo Dining Room is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner whilst the Sleeping Buffalo Lounge is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks or casual dining. During the summer months the Italian-inspired Cilantro offers homemade flatbread pizzas, pasta and hearty mountain food.
There is a gym, steam room and hot tub at the Lodge itself plus a myriad of attractions in Banff and the surrounding national park.
