Beartrack Inn

Boasting 16 tidewater glaciers and 30 alpine glaciers this mountain-guarded sanctuary is the coastal flank of the largest internationally protected area on the planet With Beartrack Inn as your base you can enjoy superb Alaskan hospitality in the incredible wilderness. On your day of arrival there is time to explore by kayak or mountain bike before your adventures start the following day. The second day of your stay here includes a Glacier Bay cruise which takes you up to the faces of the Margerie and Grand Pacific Glaciers which soar 76m above the waterline and plunge a further 30m below whilst spotting the humpbacks, minke and orcas that are prolific visitors; Stella sea lions and Dall porpoises are also often seen. On your third day join the M/V Taz for a foray into Alaska’s most famous whale feeding grounds – Icy Strait and Point Adolphus. Alongside the orca’s, humpback, minke and harbour porpoises you may also spot bald eagles, puffins and the occasional Alaskan brown bear, your return flight leaves for Skagway or Juneau this evening after the day’s adventures.

Location

Beartrack Inn sits on the quiet shores of Gustavus in the Glacier Bay National Park and is accessed by flight from Skagway or Juneau.

Accommodation

The Inn offers 14 spacious, hand crafted guest rooms with private bathrooms and wonderful views – the second floor rooms have particularly fabulous panoramas. There are no TV’s but with the landscape outside the window you won’t miss it! The dining room at Beartrack features an open kitchen where you can see the chefs at work and a stay here includes breakfast and dinner at the lodge with lunch provided on all excursions.

Facilities

At Beartrack the focus is on the magnificent landscapes which surround you, this is not a place where you will find a fitness centre or spa, or a range of shops to browse; a stay here is about immersing yourself in the vastness of the Alaska wilderness.
