This charming Auberge hotel offers a luxurious and contemporary base in Quebec City
City | Food & wine | History & culture
The hotel sits on an Îlot Hunt, a site of historical significance opposite the St. Lawrence River. During its earliest days, the building was first used as a wharf, then a cannon battery and finally a warehouse by British merchants at a time when Quebec was one of North America’s largest ports. A major archaeological dig took place here prior to the final building of the hotel and a number of new artefacts dating back to the 1600’s were discovered; these are now on display in the hotel.
Auberge Saint Antoine sits in the centre of the Old Port in Quebec City and has a multitude of restaurants, bistros, shops and galleries on its doorstep. Quebec City Airport is a 25-minute drive away and the hotel is just a short walk from the railway station. Valet car parking is available along with a car wash.
Auberge Saint Antoine comprises three buildings and the rooms are a contemporary blend of old and new. Luxe Rooms are large in size and have a queen or king bed, sitting area and spacious bathrooms with heated floors and soaking bath tubs. Luxe River View rooms have stunning panoramas of the St. Lawrence River and the occasional cruise ship. Each room contains an artefact and historical explanation along with amenities such as Nespresso Coffee machines, tea pot, Wi-Fi, BOSE sound system and mini bar.
The excellent Panache restaurant is housed within the stone walls of a riverside warehouse and offers sublime views and food. The restaurant is open daily for breakfast and dinner and focuses on classic dishes and, when possible, produce from the hotel’s own garden on Île d’Orleans; the wine list is extensive with over 700 labels on offer from 14 countries. Café Bar Artefact is a casual spot and perfect for a lazy lunch or evening dining. Other dining options include, Café de la Promenade, offering café style snacks with sandwiches and salads and delicious gelato throughout the summer months. Alternatively, visit Panache du Parc for afternoon tea.
LeGym is the hotel’s signature gym and health zone and is a state of the art fitness facility that also offers spa services. A complimentary 20 minute guided tour of the Îlot Hunt is available for all hotel guests.
