A self-drive holiday lets you take things at your own pace, with the added freedom of changing your itinerary and travelling with fewer luggage worries.

Some of the most spectacular self-drive experiences are to be had along South Africa’s Garden Route, winding through forest-clad mountains, Wineland valleys, Big Five safari reserves, and pausing at beautiful beaches. Alternatively, travel across New Zealand, combining visits to Franz Josef Glacier and the rugged Southern Alps with wonderful road trips through the Westland, Mount Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks.

You can hug the oceanfront on Australia’s Great Ocean Road or California’s Pacific Coast Highway, seeing a vast array of sights along the way; watch for whales, bears and other wildlife in the wilderness of Vancouver Island; catch the autumn colours in New England and Nova Scotia, head south to Chile’s forested Lake District, and the fjords, glaciers and spectacular peaks of the Torres del Paine National Park; or immerse yourself in the history of Al-Andalus on a leisurely trip through the varied cultural attractions of Seville, Granada and Córdoba.
