Day 5: Hermanus
On the morning of day five, head east out of Cape Town for a leisurely two-hour drive. Your destination is the picturesque seaside village of Hermanus. During the months of June to December, Hermanus offers the best land-based whale watching in the world. Magnificent southern right whales make their home in the deep waters of Walker Bay and coastal paths offer fantastic opportunities to view these majestic creatures. Your accommodation for three days is the Relais & Châteaux hotel, The Marine Hermanus. Perched on a cliff overlooking Walker Bay, you may even spot the whales from your room.

Stay:
The Marine Hermanus (B)

Days 6–7: Hermanus
Enjoy walks along the coast paths to view breaching whales. Make sure you listen out for the ‘whale-crier’ who blows a horn when the whales are in the bay. Away from the coast, the Fernkloof Nature Reserve offers mountain walks with breathtaking views of the bay.
