Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Launceston

Arrive in Launceston where you'll be met and transferred to your hotel. Your adventure begins today as you head through picturesque vineyards and farmlands to the gold mining town of Beaconsfield where you'll have a guided tour of the mine and local heritage centre before returning to Launceston for a welcome dinner and the chance to get to know your fellow travellers.

Day 2
Freycinet National Park

Depart Launceston and head through the verdant wine-growing region of northern Tasmania to East Coast Natureworld, where you'll come face to face with Tasmanian devils and other native wildlife. You'll then follow the spectacular Tasmanian coastline to Freycinet National Park, a beautiful region on the island's east coast rich in flora and fauna. Enjoy a walk along Richardson's beach before continuing to the seaside town of Swansea where you'll spend the night. Dinner is included although you may wish to indulge in the local crayfish speciality for an additional cost.

Day 3
Port Arthur

Today you'll visit the heart of Tasmania and the historic settlements of Campbell Town and Ross before continuing south to the famous Richmond Bridge and onward to Port Arthur via Eaglehawk Neck and the dramatic landscapes of Tasmania's southern coastline

Day 4
Hobart

After breakfast you'll spend some time visiting Port Arthur's former convict prison, described as hell on earth by its 12,500 inmates and without doubt one of the most notorious prisons of its kind in Australia. After a fascinating guided tour through the ruins of the prison you'll join a cruise aboard the Marana around the Isle of the Dead before heading to Hobart where you'll spend the next two nights.

Day 5
Hobart

Spend a full day discovering the highlights of historic Hobart as you visit Salamanca Place, Constitution Dock and the harbour, which is certainly one of the prettiest in Australia. Explore Salamanca Market, home to some 300 stalls and a great place to spend a few hours browsing or perhaps join an optional excursion to Bruny Island off Tasmania's rugged south coast (not included in cost and must be pre-booked).

Day 6
Strahan

Depart Hobart this morning and head to Strahan on Tasmania's west coast via the scenic Mt Field National Park - home to the famous three-tiered Russell Falls - and the untouched wilderness of Lake St Clair at the southern tip of the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park.

Arrive in Strahan in the afternoon either by coach or via the West Coast Wilderness Railway, a scenic railway journey through the beautiful landscapes of western Tasmania (not included).

Day 7
Cradle Mountain

Enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Gordon River in the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park aboard the Lady Jane Franklin II. Cruise to Sarah Island and Hell's Gate before returning to Strahan where you'll board your coach for the drive to Cradle Mountain.

Day 8
Smithton

Spend a memorable morning marvelling at the unique flora, fauna and majestic scenery of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. You'll visit Walheim Chalet and the peaceful shores of Dove Lake before making your way through the artist's town of Sheffield to the quaint fishing village of Stanley and on to Smithton where you'll spend the night.

Day 9
Launceston

This morning you'll enjoy a tasty tour of the Ashgrove Cheese Factory before journeying to the Great Lakes Plateau and on to Launceston where a farewell dinner awaits.

Day 10
Departure

Your last morning in Tasmania sees you visit Cataract Gorge, a beautiful natural gorge spanned by Kings Bridge, a suspension bridge that dates back to 1867. Following a cruise on the beautiful Tamar River, you'll transfer to Launceston Airport for your onward flight.
