From Africa's exotic west coast to the remote Phoenix Islands in the heart of the Pacific, we look at what's new in 2015 cruising from Silversea.
It may seem like a long way off, but when it comes to cruising it's always best to plan ahead and Silversea - one of the world's leading cruise lines - have just announced their brand new offerings for 2015, with 71 new and exciting destinations across their range of classic and expedition cruises.
New Classic Cruise destinations from Silversea
Silversea's classic fleet, comprising of five elegant ocean-going ships will take in 21 new destinations in 2015. In the Mediterranean and Black Sea regions there will be inaugural calls at Huelva, San Antonio and Alcúdia in Spain; Rethymnon and Igoumenitsa in Greece; Santa Maria di Leuca in Italy; and Amasra in Turkey.
Further afield in Asia and the Pacific, new ports of call include Haikou in China; Hambantota in Sri Lanka; Bintulu in Malaysian Borneo; Savusavu in Fiji; the aforementioned Lifou Island in New Caledonia; and a number of new destinations in the Philippines including Bohol Island, Boracay island, Busuanga Island and Hundred Islands.
In Africa and the Indian Ocean first-time destinations include Luanda, Angola and Mahajanga and in the North America and the Caribbean there's the chance to visit Norfolk, Virginia; Morehead City in North Carolina and Falmouth in Jamaica.
New Expedition Cruise destinations from Silversea
For those looking to get off the beaten track, Silversea's Expedition Cruises feature 50 new exhilarating destinations across their three luxurious ships - Silver Discoverer, Silver Explorer and Silver Galapagos.
Silver Discoverer will call at the remote Phoenix Islands Protected Area in the Pacific Ocean republic of Kirabati, which includes the island of Nikumaroro, believed to be the final resting place of famed aviator Amelia Earhart, in addition to a number a exciting new destinations throughout Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia, the Russian Far East, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia, including the spectacular Kimberley coast.
For Silver Explorer - known for its cruises to Antarctica, South and Central America, the British Isles, Northern Canada, Greenland and Arctic Norway - West Africa is the eye-catching new addition to its adventurous roster after a year's absence, with a stop at Congo's exotic Pointe Noire, known for its beautiful beaches and the spectacular red rock cliffs at Diosso Gorge, particularly grabbing the attention.
Finally, Silver Galapagos will again operate its year-round voyages through the awe-inspiring Galapagos Islands, for a chance to view some of the most amazing wildlife on earth.
Classic Fleet Highlights for 2015
World Cruise 2015: On the 5th January, Silver Whisper is set to embark on an epic 115-day world voyage, taking in the diverse culture, landscapes and wildlife across five continents. Those lucky enough to join this once-in-a-lifetime cruise will visit 50 unique destinations in 30 countries including the South Pacific, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Seychelles, Africa, the Caribbean and many more, before arriving in Fort Lauderdale, Florida at the conclusion of this unforgettable journey.
Asia, Africa & India: Visit some of the most exciting and exotic destinations throughout Asia, Africa and India in 2015. 21 sailings take in some of the most spectacular and diverse countries in each region including the opportunity for an extended stay in Burma (Myanmar) aboard Silver Wind and Silver Shadow. Silver Shadow's sailing on 10th November from Singapore to Hong Kong (#3531) is another to look out for, as it includes inaugural visits to Bintulu in Malaysia as well as Bohol Island, Boracay Islan, Busuanga Island and Thousand Islands in the Philippines.
Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific: Sailing from Los Angeles on 22nd January, Silver Spirit's 64-day "Southern Cross" voyage showcases this spectacular region at its finest, taking in the beautiful Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Samoa, Kiribati and Hawaii.
The Mediterranean, Northern Europe & the Baltic: Between the months of April and November, when the weather is at it's finest. Silversea Cruises will offer more than 80 voyages throughout the Mediterranean, Northern Europe and the Baltic, taking in the historic cities and secluded harbours of this beautiful and diverse region. Make sure you don't miss out on these wonderful cruises, which include:
- Silver Spirit's Voyage 5512: Sailing from Barcelona to Rome, this voyage will dock in Cannes on the 20th May to coincide with the city's famous film festival, and Monte Carlo on May 23rd, on the weekend of the Monaco Grand Prix.
- Silver Wind's Voyage 2519: This sailing of a Silversea classic will be in Venice on the 18th and 19th July, when the city holds its annual Festa del Redentore celebrations, which include a spectacular fireworks display above St Mark's Bay.
- Silver Cloud: Closer to home, Silver Cloud will have five sailings (1516, 1517, 1519, 1520 and 1521) along the River Thames to dock near, or depart from, Tower Bridge in the historic heart of London, a journey most cruise ships are too large to undertake.
- Silver Cloud's 17-day Voyage: This spectacular voyage (1518) will visit Norway's North Cape and the remote cities of Murmansk and Archangel in the White Sea, on Russia's northwest coast.
Alaska: Silver Shadow explores the remote and beautiful wilderness of Alaska on a series of 18, mostly seven-day voyages between Seward and the Canadian city of Vancouver.
South America: An unforgettable 62-day "Circle South America" round trip Grand Voyage departs Fort Lauderdale, Florida on the 7th January, taking in the Panama Canal, Chile's majestic fjords, the southerly Chilean city of Punta Arena, the pulsating Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro and the coastal Peruvian city of Callao. For those with the Amazon in mind, two cruises - Silver Cloud voyage 1503 and Silver Whisperer 4530 - will journey up the South America's most iconic river in 2015, including a two night stopover in Manaus.
The Caribbean & Central America: Throughout 2015 Silversea Cruises will feature no less than 27 voyages showcasing the shimmering beaches, laid-back lifestyle and captivating culture of the Caribbean and Central America, including 16 to 18-day voyages between Fort Lauderdale and Los Angeles or San Francisco, taking in the Panama Canal, along with Silver Cloud's four Caribbean round-trip cruises departing from San Juan, Puerto Rico's lively capital.
Canada & the Colonial Coast: The 3rd April sees Silver Shadow embark on a brand new voyage (#3507) from Fort Lauderdale, taking in Savannah, Charleston, Morehead City and Norfolk along the USA's beautiful Atlantic Coast as well as the sun-kissed islands of Bermuda and the Bahamas. Silver Whisper will also offer a selection of cruises timed to coincide with the spectacular fall foliage of coastal New England and eastern Canada.
