Italy is a destination that rewards. As such, despite lasting just under a week, this curated getaway takes in three of its finest cities; there’s Rome’s heritage both ancient and artistic, Florence’s immaculately preserved Renaissance and Venice’s world wonder audacity. Expert-led tours and even an afternoon spent on an evocative gondola ride will bring it all to life. You’ll link the three with First Class train travel and stays in the Baglioni collection of hotels, known for their personal service, architectural detail and luxurious comforts.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1

Flying into Rome, a private transfer will bring you from the airport to Baglioni Hotel Regina – an Art Deco classic. This five-star offering is sited on the central Via Veneto, meaning you’ll enjoy the espresso culture that has so captivated the world’s jetsetting elite along with the city’s sights that have been 3,000 years in the making. You’ll also be able to return from wanders in the gardens of next-door Villa Borghese to spa treatments and nightcaps in the lounge bar.

Stay: Baglioni Hotel Regina, Rome (Deluxe)

Day 2

To help orientate you, we’ve included a tour of a collection of the city’s finest sights. The 2nd century Pantheon’s austere façade contrasts with the grand Baroque flourishes of Trevi Fountain and the Piazza Navona – the latter is especially known for its grand variety of architecture with Egyptian obelisks standing alongside statues of Neptune. Further highlights include a trip to the Vatican City for St. Peter’s Basilica, a true Renaissance masterpiece. If you’d rather, there’s a wide range of excursions that you can take advantage of, from gourmet pizza-making classes to tours on Vespa mopeds.

Day 3
Rome to Florence

After breakfast, a private transfer will see you to the station where you’ll board your First Class rail journey to Florence. You’ll arrive with plenty of time to explore this Renaissance gem where evocative narrow streets constantly surprise with stunning basilicas, world-class art galleries and grand medieval piazzas. Don’t miss out on the Galleria degli Uffizi and its Renaissance classics or the city’s cathedral whose intricately detailed pink, white and green marble façade is capped by a giant red-tiled dome. You'll overnight at the Relais Santa Croce – once an 18th century residence, now a refined and elegant hotel with frescoed ceilings and elegant, comfortable rooms.

Stay: Relais Santa Croce, Florence (Deluxe)

Day 4
Florence to Venice

After a morning spent further exploring Florence – the Ponte Vecchio Bridge’s medieval tumble and the citywide views from the Piazzale Michelangelo are a must – you’ll catch the train to Venice. On arrival, you’ll transfer to the Baglioni Hotel Luna, a historic hotel housed in a magnificent Venetian palace. It’s ideally positioned to enjoy the charms of this unique city. Get lost in its backalley maze of atmospheric laneways and waterways before treating yourself to some of the world’s finest gastronomy.

Day 5

Today centres around a walking tour of Venice’s most impressive sights. Your focus will be its Piazza San Marco – the city’s main public square – where cathedrals shine in burnished gold, palaces arch out over the waters and bell towers strike towards the sky. It’s a truly atmospheric sight. Your guide will also be able to shed some light on the city’s labyrinthine layout, pointing you between its art galleries, museums and heritage bars. You’ll end with a gondola ride through the canals, watching the river life play out in front of you as you duck historic bridges.
