Day by day itinerary
Arrive in Copenhagen and check in for two nights at the Absalon Boutique Hotel, a new and contemporary design hotel in the city centre. Spend the next day exploring the city.
Stay: Absalon Hotel, Copenhagen (Superior)
Collect your hire car and head west towards Middelfart on the island of Funen. We suggest you break the journey at Roskilde, where attractions include the Viking Ship Museum and a Gothic cathedral that contains the remains of a 10th century king. At Middelfart, check in for two nights at Hindsgavl Slot, a beautifully renovated 13th century castle set among landscaped gardens. Also in the area is the Hans Christian Andersen Museum at Odense and the 450-year-old Egeskov Castle.
Stay: Hindsgavl Slot, Middlefart (Superior)
Travel south through Jutland to the Benniksgaard Hotel at the highest point of the Flensborg Fjord. Many of the buildings date back to the 18th century and their rustic style creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, a theme carried through to the hotel’s restaurant, where meat is still grilled in the open fireplace.
Stay: Benniksgaard Hotel
The final stop is the town of Esbjerg on Denmark’s west coast, where you’ll spend a night at Hjerting Badehotel. This beachfront hotel o ers a combination of superb seafood and wonderful sunsets. We recommend a walk along the shore of the Wadden Sea, followed by a drink at the hotel’s Ship Inn.
Stay: Nymindegab Kro, West Jutland (Superior)
Return your hire car at Billund on day 8 and catch your ight home.
