Recommended for:
City | Food & wine | Short break

Just an hour’s drive north of Venice, in the foothills of the Dolomites, is one of the world’s best yet largely undiscovered wine regions. Here ancient terraced vineyards clinging to the sides of every possible slope are dedicated exclusively to grapes for Italy’s most prized sparkling wine: Prosecco. Then Venice’s mercantile past has brought great riches to this once all-powerful republic – a wealth that stands today in gold-dipped basilicas and grand Gothic palaces. There’s the colourful tumble of Murano’s canal-side beauty and the greener aspect of remote Torcello and its ancient churches. Of course, there’s also time for that most quintessential of Venetian experiences – the gondola punt.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1

After enjoying your complimentary airport lounge access, your flight to Venice will be met by a private driver, who'll bring you to your accommodation a scenic drive away in the ancient walled town of Castelfranco Veneto. Stroll the alleyways and arcades of the centre to see the old town and its charming nooks and crannies. There are palazzi and courtyards to explore, and local dishes such as Risi e bisi to sample.

Stay: Hotel Alla Torre, Castelfranco Veneto (Superior)

Days 2-3
The Hills of Prosecco

After breakfast your driver will collect you for a scenic drive into the vineyards of the Prosecco Hills - one of the world's best yet largely undiscovered wine regions. Here ancient terraced vineyards cling to the sides of every possible slope dedicated exclusively to grapes for Italy’s most prized sparkling wine: Prosecco. Visiting Conegliano, famous for its three varieties of Prosecco; tranquillo, frizzante and spumante, the town is also home to Italy's oldest wine school and Valdobbiadene, the area where the finest Prosecco is produced, a land with ancient villages and splendid views. The tour will include a visit to two wine makers enjoying wine tastings and a light lunch before returning to the hotel.

Next day your driver will take you deeper into the Prosecco Hills combining a visit to the scenic mountain town of Asolo, known as “”the town of a hundred horizons”. Stroll between ancient Roman and Jewish history with remains of its amphitheatre, aqueduct, and Ghetto. Enjoy a lunch and soak up some of the panoramic views whilst perhaps sampling a glass of the regions famous product before returning to your hotel in the evening.

Stay: Hotel Alla Torre, Castelfranco Veneto (Superior)

Day 4
Prosecco to Venice

After breakfast you will be collected and driven through the scenic lowlands towards Venice. After being dropped off, a water transfer will take you to the Hotel Heureka, a stunning new concept hotel with 10 dazzlingly seductive rooms and a spacious secret garden, all hidden in a peaceful Venice backwater. Explore laid-back Cannaregio. Nearby bàcari serve cicchetti (light bites) to local artisans and canal-sides buzz with drinkers lapping up the last rays of sun.

Stay: Ca’Sagredo, Venice (Deluxe)

Day 5

On your last day in Venice we recommend an optional food and wine walking tour. The city has long been known for its unique gastronomy, with local seafood and handmade pasta taking centre stage. This being Italy, it’s all matched with some of the country’s finest varietals. Otherwise, you’ll have the day at leisure to lose yourself in the rabbit warren of canals and alleyways before your flight home.
