Seeing the Northern Lights is, for many, a true bucket list experience. And there are few better places on earth to see their kaleidoscopic displays than Norway's Arctic capital – Tromso. The aurora is at its most active from late autumn, through winter and into early spring, and can generally be seen best between 6pm and 2am, weather permitting, of course. Our popular short break, featured below, includes an aurora safari to a remote camp, giving you a true taste of life in the Arctic. What's more, there's the chance to add on any number of optional excursions, which include everything from cultural tours and snowmobiling safaris to Ice Dome visits and Northern Lights harbour cruises.
