City-break | Northern Lights | Short break | Winter
Seeing the Northern Lights is a jaw-dropping and mystical experience. The lights are at their most frequent in late autumn, through winter and into early spring and can generally be seen best between 6pm and 2am. In order to maximise your chances of seeing the aurora, we recommend you avoid travelling during a full moon (your travel specialist will be able to advise you of the best dates). Also remember to wrap up warmly as it can get very cold!
This short break gives you a taste of the Arctic with the opportunity to add your own adventures with a choice of optional excursions including cultural tours, snowmobiling adventures and husky safaris.
Day by day itinerary
Fly from London Gatwick to Tromso. Check in to Clarion Collection Hotel With, located near the harbour in the heart of the city, where you'll be based for the next three nights. The hotel offers a complimentary light evening meal between 6 and 9pm each day, as well as Norwegian waffles, coffee and tea between 3 and 6pm.
The rest of the day will be yours to explore the town.
After breakfast on days two and three of your trip you'll have plenty of opportunities to take one of the fantastic optional excursions on offer, including snowmobile safaris and Sami cultural tours, allowing you time to take in the breathtaking scenery of the beautiful Troms region, while experiencing a range of exciting winter time activities.
In the evening, enjoy an Aurora Safari to one of four base stations to view the Northern Lights. Your guide will select the station based on weather and wind forecasting, based on more than 15 years of experience bringing travellers to see the Lights. Once there, you’ll have a warm shelter to wrap up in, and a local host who will share their culture and history with you.
After breakfast it’s time to say goodbye to Tromso and fly back to Gatwick.
