UK to Oman
After included VIP airport lounge access, board your flight to Muscat, arriving on day two. Upon arrival, transfer to the stunning Alila Jabal Akhdar, spectacularly located in the Al Hajar mountain range, all rugged beauty and breathtaking scenery. Relax in your suite that's all dark wood furnishings, stone terraces and traditional murals, before perhaps relaxing by the heated plunge pool or indulging in the luxurious spa. Enjoy dinners in the hotel’s main restaurant, Juniper, all dark wood furniture and stone-clad walls, for traditional Middle Eastern delights, from baba ganoush to lamb tagine.

Nizwa and Jabal Shams
Today you will see you journey to Nizwa, capital of the interior and birthplace of Islam in Oman. Enjoy a full-day 4WD tour as you head to the famous Round Tower Fort, built in the 17th century, as well as its excellent Friday cattle market that sells goats, sheep and cattle. Stop by Nizwa's souq, where ornamental silver jewellery is sold alongside intricately, hand-carved khanjars (daggers), before enjoying a walk through Al Hamra, a 400-year-old old village. Then, head to Jabal Shams and stop at the terraced farming village of Wadi Ghul, taking in the views from the highest peak in the Jabal Shams range, known as Arabia's 'Grand Canyon', before enjoying lunch at a local restaurant (or picnic box from the resort). Return to Alila Jabal Akhdar for your final night.

Depart the hotel with a private transfer to the spectacular Shangri-La Muscat, spending the next four nights at this fabulous resort, made up of three hotels – you'll stay in the most luxurious option of the resort, Al Husn. Its rooms all feature a contemporary Arabian flourish and stunning garden and sea views. Relax by the pool, or go snorkelling and diving or even head on a mountain trek, coming back to the many bars and restaurants in the resort.

Muscat
Enjoy a half-day private tour of Oman's capital, Muscat, today, where you'll see such delights as the Royal Opera House, the Grand Mosque and the Bait al Zubair Museum. Drive along the Cornice to visit the fish market and colourful Muttrah Souq, stopping at the official palace of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the magnificent Al Alam Palace flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali. It's the perfect prelude to a few hours relaxation at the Chi Spa, complete with 12 treatment rooms, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi.
