Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Budva

Fly to Dubrovnik in Croatia and transfer across the border to Budva in Montenegro. Check in for four nights at the Hotel Astoria Budva, the first and only boutique hotel in Budva's atmospheric old town. Having dropped off your bags you're already in good stead for exploring Budva - holding a charming spot on the main street in the old town, Hotel Astoria is the perfect base for seeing this section of the Budva Riviera.

Day 2
Budva

Settle into Montenegrin life with a private tour of the old town of Budva, one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic Coast, surrounded by medieval walls, towers and gates. Visit the City Museum, Church of the Holy Trinity and wander through the narrow streets and relax in the piazzas and squares, before returning to your accommodation. Spend the rest of the day soaking up some afternoon sun on the hotel's private beach - the ideal spot to unwind. Just before sunset, head up to the hotel's roof terrace and sip on cocktails whilst enjoying the views for a perfect end to your first day.

Day 3
Sveti Stefan

Today can be happily spent relaxing on any of Budva's 17 beaches, or we can arrange a visit to the Sveti Stefan region just six miles east of Budva. The main draw of the region being Sveti Stefan itself of course - a privately owned islet, attached to the mainland by only a narrow causeway. Now exclusively a luxury retreat, the lack of accessibility to this island is just one aspect of its allure. But it's not just its hideaway status that seduces. Think quaint cobbled streets, 15th century red-roofed villas, striking pink sand beaches and cooling cobalt waters. To ensure that you don't miss out on this highlight we can organise your entrance to the island as well as a private tour with one of the employees from Aman Sveti Stefan. And, don't forget your camera because this island idyll has been named as Montenegro's most photographed site.

Day 4
Virpazar & Karuc

Transfer from your hotel to Virpazar for a day exploring Montenegro's luscious lakes. A private boat tour will take you through water lilies and reeds until you reach the open lake at Skadar, as you approach karuc you will enter the river leading to the charming town of Rijeka Crnojevica. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local konoba (restaurant) specialising in fish lake hooked by the owners. After indulging in some local delicacies head back to Virpazar with a swimming stop before a visit to a small family owned wine cellar for tastings. After a long day, perhaps request an in-room massage back at the hotel for some serious indulgence - you are on holiday after all.

Day 5
Kotor

Today's optional tour visits UNESCO-listed Cetinje, the one-time capital of Montenegro; Mount Lovcen, the black mountain that gave Montenegro its name; and the village of Njegusi, where you'll have the chance to sample a number of local Montenegrin products. Whether you opt for the tour or not, you'll end the day in Kotor, where you'll check in for three nights at the Hotel Astoria Kotor, a 14th century Gothic palace reborn as a stylish hotel.

Day 6
Kotor

Ancient Kotor, dramatically wedged between brooding mountains and a flooded river canyon, is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in the Adriatic. With grand Venetian mansions dominating the seafront and pretty stone churches hidden among cobbled streets and shady squares make for the perfect place to spend a day exploring. For those who want to make sure that they don't miss anything, an optional walking tour of the Old Town can be arranged for the morning and the energetic should make sure to climb the 1,350 stone steps that lead up from the city walls to an incredible viewpoint.
