Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu

Introduction

Cusco is a colonial gem built atop an ancient Inca capital at the heart of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

It is perhaps best known as the jumping-off point for the Inca Trail and famous Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. The Sacred Valley and the neighbouring Urubamba and Lares valleys are home to other Peru trekking routes.

Amongst these are the luxury lodge-to-lodge option provided on the Salkantay Trek, from Mollepata to Machu Picchu, and the picturesque Lares Trek to further afield Quechua communities, home to many traditional weavers and farmers.
