Day by day itinerary
Delhi – Kalka – Shimla
Take an early morning transfer from Delhi to Kalka, where you’ll then connect to a Toy Train to Shimla, an amazing way to enjoy the natural beauty of the region. It runs on the narrow gauge and winds its way through forested hills of fir, pines, walnut and apricot, as well as through terraced hillside fields of paddy, corn and the famous capsicum known as Shimla Mirch.
Shimla was the summer capital of India under British rule. Presently, it is the state capital of Himachal Pradesh and has seen many important historical events such as the famous Shimla Pact between India & Pakistan. The area is also famous for its natural beauty, architectural buildings, wooden crafts and apples.
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, before taking a tour of Shimla. The district of Shimla has some beautiful forests of firs, oaks and rhododendron as well as meadows with hyacinth, celandine, and asphodel that climb gently up to the rocky and snowy peaks of the Himalayas. The entire area is also covered in a number of small streams and springs and is a delightful place for nature lovers.
On your town visit, you will see the Vice Regal Lodge, the Hindu Temple, Gaiety Theatre, the Ridge and the Mall Road. After exploring the town, return to the resort and relax, and enjoy panoramic views of the mountains.
Today, you’ll enjoy another day in the town. After breakfast at your hotel, the day is free for you to enjoy as you wish.
Shimla – Kalka – Delhi
Transfer to Shimla railway station after breakfast, before boarding your train back to Delhi via Kalka. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport. Arrive back in the UK and continue your onward journey home.

The Golden Triangle, made up of the cities of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, is classic India at its very best. This tantalising triumvirate serves up everything you'd expect from a country with such a rich and varied history and a reputation for chaos and conformity in equal measure.
