You have the whole day free to explore Stockholm at leisure. Gamla Stan, the city’s medieval core, is an ideal place to start; you can easily spend a couple of hours slowly wandering among its cobbled lanes and squares, admiring the array of beautifully-preserved merchant’s houses that date back to the 17th and 18th centuries. You might also be tempted to visit at least one of the city’s plethora of world-class museums, such as the Vasa Museum, ABBA The Museum or Skansen, the world’s oldest open-air museum. If time allows, take a stroll through leafy Djurgården, or perhaps take a public ferry to the nearby islands of the Stockholm Archipelago. As you go, be sure to make stops for fika – the Swedish tradition of taking a break for a sweet treat and a cup of coffee.

You’ll have some further time to explore Stockholm this morning before a private transfer to the port where you’ll embark Seven Seas Voyager® – your luxurious home at sea for the next 12 nights. Once you’ve settled into your spacious, ocean-view balcony suite, take the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the ship’s communal lounges and superb amenities, which include a state-of-the-art spa, an outdoor pool deck, a well-equipped fitness centre, a casino and a library. This evening, as your ship departs Stockholm, you’ll be treated to your first exquisite dinner onboard, with an enticing selection of gourmet restaurants to choose from. Today, you’ll arrive in Finland’s seaside capital, Helsinki – a city renowned for its elegant mix of Neoclassical and Art Nouveau architecture, cutting-edge art and design scene, and sauna culture. The gleaming white Helsinki Cathedral in Senate Square dominates the skyline, while the ornate, red-brick Uspenski Cathedral and the rock-carved Temppeliaukio Church in the Töölö neighbourhood are similarly impressive architectural highlights. Disembark for a richly varied choice of optional excursions, including the likes of a guided walking tour, a tour of the UNESCO-listed Suomenlinna sea fortress, a traditional Finnish sauna experience, and a visit to the historic, timber-clad town of Porvoo.

After crossing the Gulf of Finland overnight, you’ll arrive in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Partially encircled by stone walls, its UNESCO-listed historic centre is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval old towns; a warren of atmospheric cobbled streets lined by Hanseatic merchant’s houses, centred around the grand Town Hall Square. Make your way from the Lower Town up Toompea Hill and you’ll find two of the city’s most striking landmarks – Toompea Castle and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral – as well as numerous viewing platforms overlooking Tallinn’s red-tile rooftops and medieval spires. Choose from guided walking tours, bike tours, beer tastings and local food experiences, or venture beyond the city on a tour that gives you a taste of life in the Estonian countryside.

Your next port of call is Visby, the largest settlement on the Swedish island of Gotland and one of Scandinavia’s best-preserved medieval walled cities. Between the 12th and 14th centuries, it was the main trading centre of the Hanseatic League in the Baltic Sea, and its historic core remains remarkably intact today. Explore its flower-lined, cobbled lanes on foot or by bike, either independently or on expert-led tours, sample authentic Gotland cuisine (especially lamb and seafood) at one of Visby’s many superb restaurants, or journey through the island’s rural interior on a restored vintage train. Gotland is also steeped in Viking heritage, which you can learn all about at the Gotland Museum in Visby.

This morning, you’ll dock in Liepāja on Latvia’s Baltic coast, nicknamed ‘the city where the wind is born’, owing to its fresh sea breeze. A European Capital of Culture in 2027, Liepāja harbours rich musical and artistic heritage, together with a forward-thinking spirit of creativity and innovation. Among the standout sights are the cone-shaped Great Amber Concert Hall, the Holy Trinity Cathedral (which houses the world’s largest mechanical pipe organ), Rose Square and the fascinating Karosta military prison complex. Liepāja is also known for its beautiful Seaside Park and Blue Flag beach – an eight-kilometre stretch of powder-soft white sand just outside the city centre.

Sailing south overnight, you’ll arrive at the Polish seaport of Gdynia. From here, it’s just a short journey to Gdańsk, one of Poland’s most picturesque and atmospheric cities. Its historic centre reveals a mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture – much of it carefully reconstructed in the aftermath of World War II – while rows of colourful, gabled townhouses and canals bear a strong resemblance to Dutch cities. Stroll along Długa Street (Long Street), which runs between the Green Gate and Golden Gate through the heart of the Old Town, where you’ll find major landmarks including the Main Town Hall, Długi Targ (Long Market) and Neptune’s Fountain. Nearby Mariacka Street, meanwhile, is lined with amber shops, art galleries and cosy cafes. Explore it all on your choice of guided tours.

Arrive in Warnemünde, a German port town at the meeting point between the Warnow river and the Baltic Sea. This is your gateway to Berlin, which lies around 240 kilometres to the south; opt to explore the cosmopolitan German capital either independently or on your choice of guided day tours, taking in everything from the Berlin Wall and the Holocaust memorial to the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. It’s a city packed with striking architecture, world-class museums, beautiful parks and poignant reminders of its turbulent past.

Continuing west along Germany’s northern coastline, your next port of call is Kiel, one of the country’s most important maritime hubs and the capital of the Schleswig-Holstein state. It’s situated along the banks of the Kiel Fjord, a 17-kilometre inlet of the Baltic Sea which marks the eastern terminus of the Kiel Canal – one of the busiest artificial waterways in the world, connecting the North Sea to the Baltic. Disembark to learn all about Kiel’s deep-rooted seafaring history and explore the Altstadt (Old Town), where you’ll find the Old Market, the Gothic Revival-style St. Nikolai Church and the historic shopping promenade, Dänische Straße (Danish Street). Alternatively, you might set your sights on Hamburg, Germany’s second-largest city, which is home to the UNESCO-listed Speicherstadt district – a vast complex of red-brick warehouses and canals that serve as an enduring symbol of the city’s rich maritime heritage.

Sailing north overnight, your next port of call is Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, located on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula. It boasts a vibrant artistic scene, a fascinating blend of traditional and ultra-modern architecture, and a burgeoning culinary reputation. Pay a visit to the superb ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, step back in time at Den Gamle By (an open-air museum dedicated to urban cultural history), meander among the cobbled lanes of the beautifully preserved Latin Quarter, and marvel at the futuristic architecture of Aarhus Ø, the redeveloped docklands district. You’ll also find no shortage of outstanding restaurants, trendy bars and cosy cafes throughout the city, while the lively Aarhus Street Food market celebrates a diverse array of cuisines from all around the world.

The next leg of your voyage sees you cross the Kattegat – the body of water between Denmark and Sweden – before arriving in Gothenburg. Founded on the southern banks of the Göta River in the 17th century, Gothenburg grew to become Sweden’s most important west-facing trading post. Its layout was heavily shaped by Dutch engineers and city planners who established a system of canals to facilitate maritime trade and transport; although some of these have since been paved in, canals remain an integral part of the city’s identity today. Formerly a hub of heavy industry – particularly shipbuilding and automotive manufacturing – Gothenburg has evolved in the 21st century to become a centre of innovation and a leader in sustainable technologies.

Explore the charming, cafe-lined cobbled streets of the historic Haga district, visit the 17th-century Skansen Kronan fortress, stroll through the botanical gardens, and peruse the stalls of the famous Feskekörka (fish market). There’s also the opportunity to explore the city by vintage tram, or take a boat trip out to the picturesque archipelago islands scattered along Sweden’s Bohuslän Coast.

Your penultimate port of call is Helsingborg, one of Sweden’s oldest cities, just across the Øresund Strait from Denmark. Visit Kärnan, the medieval tower that stands as the sole remnant of the city’s medieval fortifications, and Sofiero Palace, a former summer residence of the Swedish royal family. It’s also possible to venture beyond Helsingborg today to explore the nearby cities of Lund and Malmö. Or, you could take a trip along the coast to Kullaberg, a nature reserve that’s home to dramatic cliffs, wild forests, lush meadows, criss-crossed by scenic hiking and cycling trails. This evening, you’ll sail across the Øresund Strait to Copenhagen, where you’ll spend your final night onboard the ship.
