Sailing on the magnificent AmaMagna, you’ll enjoy all the luxuries of a ship twice as wide as its peers. Along with spa treatments and studio fitness classes, you can expect a full-board spread of gourmet dining options paired with included fine wines and beers. You’ll also be sailing one of the world’s greatest rivers, pausing at imperious Vienna, Sound-of-Music Salzburg and Český Krumlov’s Baroque charm. Although it all ends among Budapest’s Gothic grandeur, you’ll also pause everywhere from Bavarian towns to Austrian villages and imposing castles. Throughout, it’s all brought to life by such included excursions as wine tastings, bike rides and guided walks.

Day 1
UK to Vilshofen, Germany

After enjoying complimentary airport lounge access, you’ll fly out to Vilshofen – a pretty Bavarian town. You’ll be brought aboard your luxury river ship, settling in to enjoy the daily complimentary cocktail hour before the first of your included meals. Expect everything from the Chef’s Table tasting menus to al-fresco delights and wine-bar specialities. It’s all washed down with complimentary fine wines and beer. Then, perhaps after a nightcap, return to your stateroom where you’ll be treated to picture-window views, on-demand entertainment and complimentary WiFi. There’s also plenty of other amenities, from the spa to the sun-deck pool and walking There’s even a brand-new full-size pickleball court on the Sun Deck, which made its debut in 2023.

Day 2
Vilshofen to Passau, Germany

This morning, you’ll have a chance to explore Vilshofen’s quaint old town, where the streets are cobbled and the church steeple is the tallest building. You’ll then sail along through the Bavarian countryside to Passau. Positioned at the confluence of three rivers, its rich trading heritage lives on today in grand cathedrals, churches and town halls, all built with Italianate flair. You’ll also begin your included programme of shore excursions, with a walking tour of Passau’s twisting laneways or a guided hike up to Passau Castle. Dating to the 13th century, it’s a grand vision of terracotta turrets and whitewashed walls.

Day 3
Linz & Grein, Austria

Sailing on to Austria and Linz, your guided touring will see you explore its baroque beauty and daring art installations by walking or bike tour. A visit to Mozart’s 16th-century Renaissance house is a special highlight. This afternoon, you’ll also be able to visit Salzburg’s Sound-of-Music sights, from its manicured parks to its formidable clifftop fortress and Baroque old town. Alternatively, enjoy a scenic drive through the Austrian Lake District, stopping at cutesy villages, or hop over the border to the Czech Republic’s Český Krumlov. It’s often lauded as one of Europe’s most picturesque towns for its spectacular spread of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture. Later, pause in Grein to visit the imposing 15th-century Greinberg Castle.

Day 4
Melk and Spitz, Austria

In the morning, you can visit the 900-year-old Melk Abbey situated high atop the granite cliffs of the Danube, or get active with a bike to Marbach before returning to Melk and the ship for lunch. During the afternoon, journey to Spitz and take a guided excursion to Dürnstein to stroll along the cobblestone streets to the Baroque Stiftskirche, with its famed church tower on a walking tour. Those who wish a more active adventure of the area can hike to the historic Dürnstein Fortress, cycle through Spitz to Emmersorf and back to Spitz, or hike around Spitz up to Rotes Tor. In the evening, be treated to an exclusive wine experience where you’ll enjoy some of the region’s famous wines.

Day 5
Vienna, Austria

You’ll arrive into the Austrian capital today, where you’ll again have a choice of excursions. Perhaps take in the city’s regal splendours with a visit to Schonbrunn Palace and gardens, the majestic Opera House, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the impossibly grand Imperial Palace before ending with Vienna’s historic centre – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For something more active, take a guided bike ride along the Danube or pedal your way to Klosterneuburg. This 12th-century monastery is capped in sweeping domes, which in turn house grand interiors of golden colonnades and elaborate paintings.

Day 6
Bratislava, Slovakia

Sailing on, you’ll be welcomed into Bratislava, Slovakia's capital city. Here, a hilltop castle looks out over a pastel-hued old town and the green-fringed banks of the Danube lead between 18th-century squares. It’s all brought to life by your guided walking tour, focusing on how the city became the host for the coronations of 11 Hungarian kings and queens between 1536 and 1830. Alternatively, opt for a tasting tour of the Slovakian culinary arts, or stretch your legs with the hike up to Bratislava Castle. You’ll be rewarded with spectacular views and an intriguing history that dates back over 1,000 years.

Day 7
Budapest, Hungary

You’ll end in style with the Hungarian capital. And, your city tour here begins with the Budapest’s Great Market Hall, where you’ll discover a wealth of delicious food and last-minute shopping opportunities. You’ll also take in both Buda’s medieval severity and Pest’s grand bathhouses, connected by that 19th-century icon – the Széchenyi Chain Bridge. Otherwise, there’s the usual hill hike to the city’s castle on offer, to take in its beautiful spread of Baroque and Middle Ages architecture. It’s all capped with a special sailing past the Gothic Parliament Building as the city lights up under nightfall.
