Arrive in Argentina's capital where an included shared transfer will whisk you to the Park Tower Hotel for an overnight stay. The rest of the day is free, so take the chance to head out and explore the city's diverse collection of neighbourhoods, with the bustling markets of San Telmo, sophisticated Recoleta and the colourful streets of La Boca all providing a delightful contrast to the Spanish-era grandeur of the city centre. In the evening, perhaps head to one of the city's many acclaimed steak restaurants where prime cuts are served alongside full-bodied red wines before taking in a tango show. Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, Argentina
Check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your Silversea charter flight to Ushuaia where you'll board Silver Explorer. After you've settled in to your luxury, butler-served suite, a safety drill will take place before you set sail. Then, during the afternoon, you'll be introduced to your expedition team and important members of the crew as you trace the mountain-lined shoreline of the Beagle Channel, leaving behind Tierra del Fuego, the Land at the End of the World.

At Sea
With a full day on board, you'll have ample time to get acquainted with your ship's facilities. Perhaps head to the spa for a treatment, work up a sweat in the fitness centre, or relax with a book in the Observation Library, complete with sweeping sea views. Elsewhere, the expedition team’s expert lecturers will present ornithological and historical insights into the Falkland Islands, your first destination. There's also the chance to brush up on local birdlife in the company of the ship's onboard ornithologist. Tonight, you're invited to a special Welcome Aboard cocktail party, hosted by the Captain and his senior officers.

West Point Island and Saunders Island, Falkland Islands
Watch for Peale’s dolphins and the distinctive black and white markings of the Commerson’s dolphin as you approach West Point Island in the remote Falkland Islands. Walk across rolling moorland to reach colonies of Black-browed albatrosses and learn about the island’s unique flora. Then, during lunch, you'll sail on to Saunders Island. Apart from its historical importance – this is where the first of the region's British settlements was located – Saunders is known for its rich variety of wildlife. And, depending on the weather conditions, a visit to Neck will offer the chance to see gentoo and king penguins resting on the dunes.

Stanley, Falkland Islands
Dropping anchor in the Falklands' capital, you'll have the option to join a sightseeing tour, taking in everything from 100-year-old shipwrecks and whale bone displays to war memorials, museums and the 19th-century Anglican cathedral. Or, you might prefer to simply stroll through the charming streets of the colourful town centre, all lined with quaint cottages and traditional pubs.

At Sea
With a further day at sea, take the chance to head out on deck to watch for passing seabirds and marine mammals. Then, gather in The Theatre to hear about Captain Cook’s first visit to South Georgia or to learn about the region’s endemic wildlife. Knowledgeable onboard experts will present lectures and seminars in a variety of scientific fields, while the likes of photography workshops, spa treatments and a host of exquisite dining experiences will see you while away the hours in typical Silversea style.

South Georgia
South Georgia is truly spectacular, an island of towering, snow-dusted crags, mighty glaciers, and low-lying grasslands that attracts an astounding concentration of wildlife; expect to see southern fur seals, southern elephant seals and a variety of albatross species along with thousands-strong colonies of king and macaroni Penguins. South Georgia also has a rich history in polar exploration; Captain James Cook first stepped ashore here in 1775, but perhaps more famous is Ernest Shackleton’s arrival in 1916 following the sinking of his ship Endurance.

At Sea
A day at sea affords a welcome chance to relax and take stock of your adventures so far. And, as usual, there are plenty of opportunities to participate in onboard activities, or take a stroll on deck to enjoy the sheer solitude and splendour of your surroundings. During your cruise south towards the Antarctic Peninsula, you';; likely get your first glimpse of giant tabular icebergs as they float up from the Weddell Sea.

Elephant Island, South Shetland Islands
Awesome glaciers greet your arrival at Elephant Island, named for its former abundance of elephant seals. In 1916, when Ernest Shackleton’s ship Endurance was crushed in pack ice, the crew was stranded here for some 137 days. Today, the island is known for its chinstrap penguin rookeries, as well as old moss colonies. Vast colonies of Weddell seals and macaroni penguins can also be found on the spit of land Shackleton’s men appropriately named Point Wild.

Antarctic Peninsula
Remote and otherworldly, the Antarctic Peninsula is a spectacular world of icebergs and calving glaciers, where up-close encounters with marine mammals are a daily occurrence. Watch for seals sunbathing on slow-moving ice floes and for humpback, minke, and orca whales as they breach the frigid waters. Each day, weather permitting, you'll attempt Zodiac landings and expert-led cruises, bringing you up close to giant icebergs and penguin rookeries, perhaps calling in to scientific research stations to see the work being carries out in this unforgiving environment. A flexible itinerary allows you to take advantage of favourable sea conditions. And, in the true spirit of expedition cruising, your Expedition Leader and Captain will determine our best course depending the day's forecast.

Drake Passage
The Drake Passage has a notorious reputation for its turbulent seas, with often-strong westerly winds whipping up huge waves in the narrow gap between South American and the Antarctic Peninsula. That said, on calmer days, those that head out on deck will be richly rewarded with spectacular views and a rich variety of seabirds including black-browed albatross, sooty shearwaters, and white-chinned petrels.

Ushuaia to Buenos Aires
Arriving back into Ushuaia, you'll disembark Silver Explorer for a shared transfer to the airport for your Silversea charter flight back to Buenos Aires. Here you'll spend a final night at the Park Tower Hotel, perhaps taking the chance to further explore the city, or pick up a souvenir or two before your flight home.
