Location
Sequoia Lodge enjoys a privileged position immersed among 30 acres of unspoilt nature atop Adelaide’s Mount Lofty, affectionately known as Koala Mountain. It’s flanked by the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden on one side and Cleland National Park on the other, an area of bushland that’s home to a rich variety of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and wombats. It also lies within striking distance of several renowned vineyards which produce some of Australia’s finest cool-climate wines. Downtown Adelaide, meanwhile, is just a 20-minute drive away.
Accommodation
Each of Sequoia Lodge’s open-plan suites are filled with natural light and boast sweeping views overlooking the leafy Piccadilly Valley from the lounge, bedroom and bathroom. They’re brought to life by local craftspeople, artists and artisans, who’ve created a tranquil ambience with a warm, earthy colour palette featuring wood and stone accents. Each suite features a sunken lounge room with a stone-clad gas fireplace, an east-facing panoramic balcony with a spacious day bed, a plush king size bed, a light-filled bathroom with a freestanding bathtub and wellness shower, underfloor heating and a bespoke pillow menu. There’s also full suite automation with different mood lighting and time of day settings.
Dining
The culinary offering is one of the highlights of any stay at Sequoia Lodge, with an innovative menu that focuses on the finest locally sourced, seasonal produce from South Australia – complemented, of course, by an extensive, carefully curated list of the region’s very best wines. All meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant, with magnificent views looking out across the sun-drenched Piccadilly Valley, or, if you prefer, in the comfort and privacy of your suite. And if you’re heading out for the day, you can order a delicious Sequoia picnic hamper to take with you. There are also several standout dining venues close by in the Mount Lofty Estate.
Facilities
Within the grounds of the lodge, you’ll find artesian spring-fed thermal pools, a large infinity pool overlooking the Piccadilly Valley, a tennis court and numerous hiking trails. It’s an idyllic environment in which to unwind, recharge and connect with nature. You may also wish to make use of the excellent wellness facilities at the Gatekeeper’s Day Spa, including a sauna, a hot tub and an ice bath. A range of treatment packages are available, too, featuring the likes of hot stone massages, facials and skin exfoliations. Sequoia also offers signature experiences which are included as part of your stay, such as yoga sessions, guided nature walks, cocktail mixology classes and stargazing workshops. And of course, you’re always welcome to relax in the lodge’s cosy communal lounge area, which features several fireplaces.
