Location
Located on the shores of a beautiful lake near the small village of Sörbyn, about an hour from Luleå, Sörbyn Lodge feels remote. The untouched wilderness of frozen lakes and snow-topped forests are an Arctic playground, perfect for trying a range of exciting winter adventures and searching the skies for signs of the Northern Lights.
Accommodation
Sörbyn Lodge has a variety of room options including old-style timber cabins and recently built hotel rooms. Sörbyn offers a choice between the rustic charms of a timber cabin, or the modern comforts of a hotel room. There are just eight cabins, with up to two bedrooms, dotted amongst the trees, offering solitude and tranquillity. Rooms in the hotel itself are spacious, bright and stylishly simple, atmospheric in their own modern way.
Dining
Kallkällan restaurant offers a superb range of regional classics featuring reindeer, Arctic char, wild mushrooms and cloudberries. These are the cornerstones of Lappish cuisine, and the chef here combines them with other local ingredients to delicious effect. It’s possible to join him for foraging trips, or join him in the kitchen to see how he puts together delights such as local lamb with chanterelles and ceps.
Facilities
Depending on the season, you can race across the forested landscape on a noisy snowmobile, fish for char on tranquil Vitträsket lake, go kayaking or white water rafting on the Råne or relax at the lodge sauna. Alternatively, hop on the back of a snowmobile and weave your way through the trees in search of delightful woodland critters, from mink to moose; repeat the same trick at night time to catch the delights of the Northern Lights.
