Location
Nestled in the game rich Hluhluwe Imfolozi in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, the Rhino Ridge Safari Lodge holds four stars to its name and is the first private safari lodge to be situated within the reserve. Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve is one of Africa’s oldest game reserves and home to Africa’s ‘Big Five’, stretching over 96,000 hectares in size. The closest airport, Richards Bay, is situated just under two hours away and Durban approximately three hours’ drive.
Accommodation
Composed of 22 rooms, the lodge offers eight Luxury Bush Villas, two Honeymoon Villas and six Safari Rooms, all discreetly separate to ensure privacy and enhance the safari experience. All rooms feature twin or king bedding, en-suite facilities, an indoor and outdoor shower and private wooden deck, with the Honeymoon Villas featuring private plunge pools and the Bush Suites suitable for families as the rooms are arranged in pairs.
Dining
The lodge’s restaurant serves meals of hearty African cuisine from local ingredients. Guests can dine within the restaurant, under the stars around a campfire, or beside the boma.
Facilities
Rhino Ridge Lodge offers both early morning and evening game drives, providing the opportunity to spot the ‘Big Five’ in the company of senior guides, who ensure the encounters in the African Bush are exciting, informative and safe. Other tours include a cultural community visit to Mpembeni, allowing guests to experience and gain insight to local life and the half-day tour of the safari park, including lunch at one of the many view sites. Guests can indulge themselves in the infinity pool or with a full range of spa and beauty therapies, designed to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul whilst soaking up the views of the park. Other activities in neighbouring areas include kayaking, birding, fishing, whale watching, nature trails, and visit nearby villages, culture shows or a journey to St Lucia. Only two hours away, St Lucia offers whale watching, hippo and croc boat cruises, wetland safari and deep sea game fishing.
