The Flinders Ranges is famed for its dramatic landscapes, Aboriginal heritage, and abundant wildlife and offers a genuine and authentic taste of the Australian outback yet is within easy striking distance of Adelaide and the Clare Valley.
The eco villas at Rawnsley Park are tucked away into a quiet spot with wonderful views. You can choose from one or two bedrooms which are fully self-contained with spacious living and dining areas. Over the bed you’ll find clear glass skylights, perfect for star gazing from the comfort of your room while from the private verandah you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Flinders Ranges. These villas have been designed to blend into their natural environment, are energy-neutral and feature sustainable design including straw bale walls, polished timber floors and overhanging eaves.
Although you have full kitchen facilities there’s also an excellent restaurant at Rawnsley Park Station – The Woolshed. Serving modern Australian dishes in the old woolshed, chef Andrew Zdravkovski learnt his skills in the kitchens of Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver – today he offers one of the Flinders best dining experiences. The restaurant is open for dinner daily.
There’s a shop for stocking up on supplies and a lovely swimming pool for cooling down after a day of exploration. There are guided 4WD tours where you can discover the remarkable flora and fauna of the Flinders Ranges with an expert guide or hire one of the station’s own 4WD vehicles and explore at your own pace. With the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife one of the best ways to explore is on foot and you can follow one of seven marked trails as you please or join one of the daily guided walks. There is also a network of cycling trails or perhaps take to the air on a scenic flight for one the most memorable views of the range.
