Location

The Flinders Ranges is famed for its dramatic landscapes, Aboriginal heritage, and abundant wildlife and offers a genuine and authentic taste of the Australian outback yet is within easy striking distance of Adelaide and the Clare Valley.

Accommodation

The eco villas at Rawnsley Park are tucked away into a quiet spot with wonderful views. You can choose from one or two bedrooms which are fully self-contained with spacious living and dining areas. Over the bed you’ll find clear glass skylights, perfect for star gazing from the comfort of your room while from the private verandah you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Flinders Ranges. These villas have been designed to blend into their natural environment, are energy-neutral and feature sustainable design including straw bale walls, polished timber floors and overhanging eaves.

Dining

Although you have full kitchen facilities there’s also an excellent restaurant at Rawnsley Park Station – The Woolshed. Serving modern Australian dishes in the old woolshed, the ever-changing menu focuses on seasonal and local produce, including Rawnsley lamb, a perennial favourite. A wide selection of Southern Flinders, Clare Valley and Barossa Valley wines are also available to accompany the exquisite food. There's also the option of a take out menu, allowing you to cook meat platters on a barbecue in the privacy of your own veranda. The restaurant is open for dinner daily.

Facilities

There’s a shop for stocking up on supplies and a lovely swimming pool for cooling down after a day of exploration. You may be tempted to join one of the guided 4WD tours (half-day and full-day options are available) where you can discover the remarkable flora and fauna of the Flinders Ranges with an expert guide. Another fantastic option is the short tour to Rawnsley Buff, where you can sip drinks while learning about the area's history and admiring the resplendent sunset views.

With the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife, one of the best ways to explore is on foot and you can follow one of seven marked trails as you please or join one of the daily guided walks, such as the one-day Wilpena Pound guided walk. You also have the opportunity to take to the air on a scenic flight or helicopter ride to the Chace Lookout for one of the most memorable views of the range from above, or even embark on an overnight heli-camping adventure where you'll be dropped off by helicopter with a guide who will prepare camp and dinner over an open fire.
