Location
The 5-star Moscow Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the Russian capital. The magnificent Bolshoi Theatre is just a few steps away, as is Red Square. No photos or guidebooks can prepare you for standing in this vast, magnificent space. The square is bordered to the west by the Kremlin, inside of which is the Armory Museum, which lists the dazzling crown jewels of the Romanovs and a stunning collection of ten Faberge eggs among its 4,000-strong collection. At the far end of Red Square loom the multi-coloured pinnacles and onion domes of St Basil’s Cathedral, commissioned by Ivan the Terrible in the mid-16th century and now probably the most recognisable sight in all Russia.
Accommodation
Personal service is top of the priority list at this elegant hotel, and no matter what your room type, you’ll enjoy all the benefits of personal butler service. In addition, every room features a marble-accented bathroom with a deep-soaking tub, complimentary Wi-Fi, a mini bar, safe, and either a king or two double beds. We also recommend upgrading to an Executive Level room or suite to enjoy the benefits of the Executive Lounge, where you’ll find a complimentary breakfast, midday snacks, afternoon tea, hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks available free of charge.
Dining
Choose from four superb restaurants at the Moscow Marriott. The international Aurora Restaurant does a particularly good Sunday brunch. The Pool Club – Moscow’s original steakhouse and still one of its finest – serves succulent cuts of prime beef. Vicolo Terrace comes into its own in summer, offering diners a great choice of dishes and terrific city views. Or if you’re looking for a light bite, the Lobby Bar does a great range of snacks, not to mention a selection of speciality house cocktails.
Facilities
No need to fall out of step with your gym routine here. Aurora Fitness is open 24 hours a day and even provides personal trainers, should you be worrying about the weight of all that Russian caviar. You’ll also find a swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, children’s club, spa and beauty salon. The concierge team are particularly good and will happily direct you to the local attractions that best suit your interests.
