See dolphins and other marine life from this resort on Western Australia's Coral Coast
Beach | Natural world | Relaxation | Wildlife
Situated near Tangalooma on Western Australia’s Coral Coast, guests are treated to white-shell beaches and crystal blue waters – it’s no wonder that dolphins have been visiting this stretch of coast for over 40 years. Take to the waters on a boat cruise, sailboat or with a snorkel to get closer to the bay’s marine life. Francois Peron National Park is also on the resort’s doorstep and its acacia cloaked red dunes and fishing spots can be explored by 4WD or on one of the many hiking trails. Keep your eyes out for the host of birdlife, dugongs, loggerhead turtles and even sharks.
Comfortable en suite rooms all come with private verandahs with either beach or garden views. They also feature utensils and crockery to make the most of the shared barbecue facilities. For something a bit more exclusive, book into the Superior Beach View Rooms for a private barbecue on the verandah. While all rooms are within touching distance of the beach, the superior accommodation allows you to step right out onto the sands.
The Boughshed Restaurant, located within metres of the ocean, offers picturesque views of Dolphin Beach and an al fresco dining experience to take advantage of the Australian sun. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed atmosphere as options include seafood, beef and vegetarian meals with ingredients sourced as locally as possible. Round off your meal with a dessert and colourful cocktail as the sun sets over the resort.
At Monkey Mia, there’s plenty of activities to keep you occupied. Aside from the three (complimentary) dolphin feeding sessions, there are Aboriginal cultural walks, beach camel rides and boat cruises to spot marine life and to visit offshore pearl farms. At the Monkey Bar, laid-back diners can enjoy drinks in the open air beer garden or make use of the available barbecues.
