Situated in a quiet street just off the centre of Malmo in the southernmost province of Sweden, the Master Johan Hotel is the perfect place from which to discover the delights of Sweden’s ‘City of Parks’. From its old medieval centre to its boardwalk restaurants and beaches, Malmo is an interesting and exciting city – and a great launch pad from which to explore the nearby Swedish countryside. The train station is just a ten-minute walk away and the delights of Copenhagen are just half an hour away by car.
The hotel’s 69 rooms are all bright and airy and feature wooden floors and very comfortable beds. Most open onto a central atrium that’s flooded with natural light from the skylights overhead. Reliable Wi-Fi is complimentary and Bang & Olufsen flatscreen TVs hang on the walls. Rooms vary in size from standard rooms, through business and superior rooms, to the spacious junior suites.
The breakfasts here are delicious and best enjoyed on a sunny day in the hotel garden. Make sure to try the homemade yoghurts, and dive into the rich assortment of freshly baked breads, cold meats, cereals, eggs, smoked fish, coffee, tea and fruit juice. For other meals, you’ll find Lilla Torg, Malmo’s most highly acclaimed restaurant district, a stone’s throw from the hotel. Light bites can be had in the hotel’s Pillar Garden, which is also a great place to enjoy a cold beer or cup of coffee.
You’re free to use the fitness centre and sauna whenever you want, though the sauna can also be booked by the hour if you’d like some extra privacy. Valet parking is provided, which is very useful in a city where parking is hard to find. Other services on offer include dry cleaning and bike hire.
