Madikwe Lelapa Lodge, Madikwe Game Reserve

Location

Madikwe is a huge reserve of 100,000 hectares and is famous for its population of wild dog and the Big Five and offers a heightened sense of being in the wild- more so than the Eastern Cape. Lelapa offers a family-orientated safari with specialised rangers and facilities for young naturalists. Situated an easy 4.5 hour drive from Johannesburg and Sir Seretese Khama International Airport, Gaborone approximately two hours away by car, the Lodge is located in the eastern region of Madikwe Game Reserve.

Accommodation

12 spacious and stylish suites accommodate guests at Lelapa, each appointed with a generous lounge, indoor and outdoor shower, fireplace, sofa bed, sprawling deck and private plunge pool. The suites are located within 15 metres of each other, so if travelling with children they are never far away.

Dining

Meals at Lelepa cater to all tastes, for adults, the menu is sophisticated, simple and flavoursome with African influences. For children, there is a pizza oven in the boma and children can assist chefs in making pizza. Prices include all meals, teas and coffees, bush breakfasts and dinners, picnic lunches, soft drinks, local beers, spirits and house wines and all meals are prepared from a much locally grown produce as possible.

Facilities

Children of all ages are welcome at this safari camp, with a children’s programme including exciting indoor and outdoor activities. Madikwe Safari Lodges have trained and qualified therapists, who will visit guests in the privacy of their own suite to help unwind with an array of treatments, including massages, facials, manicures, pedicures and reflexology therapies. For those wishing to explore the reserve, game drives to spot the ‘Big Five’ and a variety of other species including lion, elephant and rhino are held twice daily, alongside guided walks and bush picnics, all of which are complimentary at the lodge.
