Perhaps one of Portugal’s best-kept secrets, the Casas do Côro is the ultimate hideaway. It’s situated amidst Marialva, which is amongst the most historic villages in the country, and makes the most of this memorable setting.
A small series of carefully renovated old dwellings interspersed with uber-stylish modern houses, this is far from conventional luxury. It’s luxurious nonetheless, and lavishly so, with gourmet dining under a stunning chandelier, a gorgeous pool surrounded by day beds, and a sauna and hot tub.
Each house is rich in décor, with silk and embroidered linen, patterned wallpaper and wood panelling, vibrant rugs and bedspreads, terraces and marble bathrooms. In the main house, there’s a magnificent fireplace (as well as that chandelier), amazing antiques and parquet flooring, sofas aplenty and an honesty bar adding to the homely feel. Views, of the medieval village, almond and olive groves are simply gorgeous.
