Our four-day safari starts and finishes in Kigali. Seeing some of the last remaining 700 mountain gorillas in the world is a fantastic experience and this safari takes you to Parc National des Volcans (PNV) in Rwanda. The Parc has five habituated gorilla families and tracking most groups in the afromontane forest usually takes only a few hours.

Day 1 Kigali
On your arrival from the UK, youll be met and transferred to Kigali. Receive a briefing on your safari before departing for PNV in the afternoon. The journey north goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterise much of Rwandas landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome Virunga volcanoes, sometimes with as many as five peaks visible.

Day 2 Volcanoes National Park
This morning, set off for the park to track the mountain gorillas. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. Once you find the gorillas and spend a good hour sitting with them, enjoy a late lunch back at the base. Some gorilla families however are more elusive, and tracking can take a full day, especially when it is wet and muddy.

Day 3 Volcanoes National Park
Today, the choice is yours from the following options: go gorilla tracking again in Parc National des Volcans (additional permit required); visit the golden monkeys; drive to Gisenyi; visit Ros Carrs orphanage and Lake Kivu; climb the Visoke/Muhavura volcanoes; trek to Dian Fosseys grave; visit the local school community projects; walk to Lake Bulera.

Day 4 Kigali
After breakfast, depart for Kigali. Time permitting, go for a tour of the city including a visit to the market, a pottery project, handicraft shops, and the genocide memorial. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
