Polar bears of Churchill
Polar bears of Churchill
On the picturesque coastline of Hudson Bay, in northern Manitoba, sits Churchill. Once a prosperous trading post it is now regarded as the ‘Polar Bear Capital of the World’ and a superb place to see this endangered species due to the area’s proximity to the polar bears’ hunting ground.
Visitors venture out of town and into the Arctic wilderness in the warmth and comfort of a Tundra Buggy to follow the giant pawprints of the annual polar bear migration. These purpose-built vehicles enable close encounters with the polar bears in their natural habitat. Polar bears are not the only attraction. You may also see caribou, arctic fox, red fox, arctic hare, lemming, snowy owl and other arctic birds.
We offer a number of tours of varying durations to this fascinating region. The option below includes two nights in Winnipeg, return flights to Churchill with three nights accommodation and two full days on a Tundra Buggy with an experienced local guide - perfect for the adventurous ecotourist or wildlife photographer.
