A new decade is here, and in celebration of the New Year, we've rounded up some of the most exciting new offerings for travel in 2020. There's everything from new cruise ships to unique hotels in incredible places. And remember, our travel specialists are always available to help you plan your perfect trip.
Arctic Bath, Harads
Arctic Bath is the epitome of innovative Swedish design. A bold, contemporary aesthetic is what makes this new hotel so special, set in the wilds of Swedish Lapland. It's a floating hotel, poised in the middle of the Lule River – meaning in winter, it's dramatically suspended in ice. The main building, designed to look like a nest, surrounds a central cold bath where guests can take a dip between sauna sessions and spa treatments. And, away from the main structure are six romantic guest rooms, each accommodating two people. This is not a family resort; more of a wellness retreat, where chefs serve up menus featuring regional, seasonal ingredients – think river-caught fish, tender reindeer meat and fresh forest berries. We recommend an itinerary that features Arctic Bath alongside two other Swedish design icons – ICEHOTEL and Treehotel.

S.S. La Venezia
Newly renovated, the former River Countess debuts as S.S. La Venezia in 2020, offering unparalleled luxury on the Italian coast. There are three dining venues onboard, a host of elegant staterooms and six exquisite suites. We recommend pairing a river cruise on S.S La Venezia with an iconic rail journey on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. You'll be treated to gourmet multi-course dining and free-flowing drinks as you glide through France and Switzerland towards Venice, where after a two-night city stay, you'll board the ship for a river cruise through the Venetian Lagoon. From the brightly-coloured buildings of Burano to the gastronomical delights of Bologna, you'll see the treasures of Northern Italy via a host of included excursions.
One&Only Gorilla's Nest, Rwanda
This incredible property is newly opened, nestled at the foot of the misty Virunga Mountains. For those who dream of getting up close to the majestic mountain gorilla, the resort is perfectly placed for wildlife encounters, with expert guides on hand to take you trekking through the jungle. The resort itself is a reflection of the region, a collection of luxurious Forest Lodges furnished in fabrics and textures inspired by traditional Rwandan design. In the restaurant, guests can enjoy a menu centred around fresh local produce, including seasonal vegetables from the hotel’s own gardens. For a truly experiential holiday, pair a stay at Gorilla's Nest with One&Only's other Rwandan property – One&Only Nyungwe House.

Silversea's Silver Origin
Silversea's newest ship, Silver Origin, has been carefully designed with its destination in mind – the spectacular Galápagos Islands. Because of the nature of the waters and the wildlife here, this brand new ship is the greenest in the Silversea fleet, showcasing the latest innovation in marine technology to minimise its impact on the sea bed. With this in mind, guests will be immersed in the remotest and most picturesque regions in the Galápagos, enjoying Silversea's impeccable service, all-inclusive dining and luxurious all-suite accommodation along the way. Choose from an itinerary in the Western Galápagos or the North & Central Galápagos – both are equally special.

New flight routes
It's always exciting when airlines introduce new routes, and in 2020, British Airways has announced flights to Montenegro, Perugia, Dalaman and Bodrum, with additional services to Larnaca, Brindisi, Nice, Tenerife and Kefalonia. Perhaps most exciting is the direct service from London to Portland, five times a week from June 2020. From Portland's thriving arts and dining scene to Oregon's picturesque wine country, there's so much to see here – including drives along the Pacific coast and the wonders of Crater Lake National Park. Our Oregon Fly-Drive is a great way to make the most of it all.
Ones to watch
We're also looking forward to the opening of some new hotels in 2020. Here are some of our ones to watch for the year ahead – while these aren’t featured on our website just yet, we’re working on some exciting new itineraries, which we hope to bring you soon. Watch this space and, in the meantime, call our specialists for information or enquire here.
Reefsuites, Whitsunday Islands
The all-new Reefsuites in the Whitsundays will offer guests the opportunity to sleep in a spectacular glass-walled underwater room on the Great Barrier Reef.
This luxury resort in Kyoto, Japan, is set among secluded grounds that were once part of an artistic community.
Mt. Mulligan Lodge
This stunning resort is set on a secluded 28,000-hectare heritage property in remote Far North Queensland, in the shadow of a sandstone tabletop mountain.
Rocco Forte Villa Igiea, Sicily
Rocco Forte Hotels will expand its Sicilian portfolio in 2020 with the addition of Villa Igiea, a historical Art Nouveau palazzo overlooking the Gulf of Palermo.
