People taking a trip to New Zealand have a range of options, with the country being recognised several times for its holiday facilities in 2009.
This is according to Tourism New Zealand, which noted that the nation was given a number of accolades despite the global economic crisis.
Among the prize winners was operator Whale Watch Kaikoura - which came first in this year's Virgin Holidays Responsible Tourism Awards.
Queenstown appeared on Condé Nast Traveler's ranking of best cities on the Pacific Rim, placing third, while New Zealand was listed as one of the top ten destinations in the world to visit for 2010.
Commenting on next year, Tourism New Zealand said it is "shaping up to be even more positive [than 2009] … with a number of important events scheduled as well as the build up to the Rugby World Cup in 2011."
Earlier this month, acting chief executive of the organisation, Tim Hunter, stated that the country has done exceedingly well during the worldwide recession.
