Day by day itinerary

Day 1

Fly to Trondheim and check in to the Scandic Nidelven Hotel, winner of 'Norway's Best Breakfast' seven years in a row. At more than 1,000 years old Trondheim is the historical heart of Norway and boasts a number of fascinating attractions including the colourful fisherman wharves that line the Nidelven River. The Trondheim food hall, full of locally produced foods ranging from seafood to smoked meats and homemade cheeses, is well worth a visit.

Day 2
Polar Express

Travel on the spectacular Nordland Railway, known poetically as the Polar Express, on a ten-hour journey through Trøndelag’s breathtaking landscapes and across the Arctic Circle to Bodo.

Days 3-4
Lofoten Islands

Take a short flight to Svolvær, capital of the Lofoten Islands, one of the world's most beautiful archipelagos. Optional activities include snowshoeing in Winter, sea kayaking in Summer, sea eagle safaris, Viking feasts and tours in search of the Northern Lights.

Days 5-6
Hurtigruten cruise

Spend today at leisure before boarding an overnight cruise with Hurtigruten from Svolvaer to Trondheim. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of Norway's Helgeland coast with its myriad of inlets and steep granite cliffs. As you head south, crossing out of the Arctic Circle, you'll pass the famed peaks of the stunning Seven Sisters mountains.

Day 7

Arrive early into Trondheim and check into the Scandic Nidelven Hotel for a one night stay. Enjoy a final day and night in this historic city, visiting Nidaros Cathedral, Scandinavia's largest medieval building where three queens and seven kings have been crowned.
