You'll complete a 720-mile loop that passes through some of Scotland's most spectacular scenery, with opportunities to take part in a variety of interesting activities and sightseeing excursions along the way, including fishing, clay pigeon shooting whisky tasting and wildlife excursions.

Day by day itinerary

Day 1
Edinburgh

Arrive into Edinburgh and make your way to your hotel, found at Edinburgh's most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street. A landmark in the city centre, the historic building's grand clock still dominates the skyline, while its location with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle is the perfect base to relax or explore the sights all within a short walk of its warm hospitality.

Day 2
Edinburgh to Boat of Garten

Board the Royal Scotsman in the early afternoon in Edinburgh and travel north, crossing the Firth of Forth via the Forth Railway Bridge. Take afternoon tea onboard as the train heads into the dramatic scenery of the Highlands. Along the way there's the chance to meet your fellow travellers at dinner or over a nightcap with entertainment in the Observation Car, on the way to Boat of Garten

Day 3
Boat of Garten to Rothiemurchus to Dundee

Start the day with a hearty breakfast onboard, travel by coach to Rothiemurchus Estate in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Rothiemurchus offers a magical setting in which to try a spot of clay-pigeon shooting or fishing or a tour of the estate.

Rejoin the train for lunch and travel to Culloden Battlefield, the site of the last battle of the Jacobite Rising for a private tour and visit to the interactive exhibition. Enjoy an evening visit to Strathisia Distillery, one of the oldest working distilleries and home to one of Scotland's most famous whiskies; Chivas.

Return to the train for some spectacular panoramas on the way through Aberdeenshire and Angus. A formal dinner is served on the way to Dundee

Day 4
Dundee to Edinburgh

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as you leave Dundee behind and return to Edinburgh, with time to see some of the city's sights before heading home or continuing your Scotland holiday.
