This tailor-made escorted tour will see you experience the rich traditions, colourful festivals and historic rituals of India, a vibrant melting pot of cultures, colours and tastes that will stimulate even the most seasoned traveller. You'll start in delightfully chaotic Delhi before the splendours of Agra showcase such delights as the magnificent Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. En-route to Udapiur you'll visit Jaipur's spectacular architecture and Deogarh's serene lakes and wildlife before reaching the buzzing Udaipur where your Holi Festival celebration begins, with city palace parades and, of course, the throwing of coloured powder. You'll end in the Bollywood mayhem of Mumbai, and it's all done with guided tours, expert guides and unique itineraries based on your interests. There’s even experiences with locals in their homes and cooking classes, alongside gourmet dining and luxury, 5-star hotels.

Day 1
12 March 2019: UK to Delhi

After starting your trip in style with VIP airport lounge access, take your overnight flight to Delhi, arriving on day two. 

Day 2
13 March 2019: Arrive in Delhi

After being met at the airport, transfer to your hotel and check in, receiving a briefing by your journey expert about the exciting days to follow. You’ll stay in elegant Le Meridien, an iconic hotel in the heart of the city, where rooms are all contemporary design and high technology. Tonight, enjoy dinner at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant Le Belvedere, where a live band accompanies authentic Chinese cuisine, or the eau de Monsoon for contemporary Indian dishes.

Day 3
14 March 2019: Delhi

After breakfast, it’s time for a full day tour of thrilling Delhi. Highlights include a rickshaw ride in the lanes of Old Delhi, the extraordinary Jama Mosque and the opulent palace of the Mughal Empire, the Red Fort. New Delhi contrasts with its boulevards, verdant parks and manicured gardens, and a reminder of Delhi's past comes in the form of the magnificent Humayun's Tomb, whose grandiose exterior and spectacular gardens makes it feel more like a palace. Tea drinking as much part of Indian culture as it is in the UK, and you'll enjoy a tea workshop this evening, learning about several types of teas and methods of brewing. Then, perhaps indulge at the hotel's The Three Graces spa with a relaxing treatment before a cocktail at the elegant Longitude bar.

Day 4
15 March 2019: Delhi to Agra

After breakfast, head on your drive to one third of India's famous Golden Triangle, Agra, with your guide. On arrival, you'll visit UNESCO World Heritage Site Agra Fort, one of India's most important historic forts. Your hotel for this evening lies among 35 acres of sprawling landscaped gardens with elegant, spectacular suites. Tonight, perhaps unwind at the hotel's Kaya Kalp spa, the largest in India, or take a dip in the sprawling swimming pool. Then indulge in one of the four excellent onsite restaurant such as Peshwari, whose menu of clay tandoor-cooked classics is among the best in the city.

Day 5
16 March 2019: The Taj Mahal and Jaipur

After breakfast you'll visit India’s jewel, the extraordinary Taj Mahal. The magnificent monument was built by an emperor in memory of his favourite wife and its stunning shades of sparkling white took 22 years to complete. After plenty of time to explore, you'll drive to Jaipur, en-route enjoying a Jugaad ride, popularly known as the Village Mercedes, to a local village where you'll enjoy lunch. Your hotel for the next two nights is the the luxury ITC Rajputana, where grandiose suites and a swimming pool lie alongside five magnificent restaurants, from the grand Jaipur Pavilion, offering such delights as Asian summer rolls and Laal Maans curry, to contemporary poolside lounge Jharokha.

Day 6
17 March 2019: Jaipur

This morning, enjoy a city tour of Jaipur, heading to the inspiring Amber Fort by jeep, its Rajput architecture, terraces and ramparts reflected in the Maota Lake below. Other highlights include the City Palace Museum, showcasing traditional Rajasthani and Mughal Art, robes of royal princes and miniature paintings and the five-storied palace Hawa Mahal. Then you'll embark on a fun turban tying lesson before heading to a local 'noble family', the Ikaki Niwas family of the royal Rajpoot community, where they'll display a cooking demonstration before you all enjoy dinner at their home.

Day 7
18 March 2019: Jaipur to Deogarh

After breakfast, your drive to to Deogarh will first see you check in to the Deogarh Mahal, your magnificent fort hotel. Then, this afternoon, enjoy a Jeep drive into the countryside with a guide, visiting small villages around Deogarh and learning about rural life before enjoying tea and snacks by the splendid lake, spotting wildlife from wolves and leopard to blue bull and endless bird species. Back at the hotel, enjoy dinner at the grandiose restaurant, offering typical Mewari cuisine alongside delightful folk music, before relaxing in your palatial red-and-gold suite.

Day 8
19 March 2019: Deogarh to Udaipur

Today will see you drive to Udaipur, en-route visiting one of the region's most important citadels, the Kumbhalgarh fort, cradled in the Aravalli mountain range and offering panoramic vistas of the verdant surrounds on its 36km-long wall. Then, check in to your lakeside hotel for tonight, Trident Udaipur, known for its fantastic cuisine in its Aravalli restaurant, serving authentic Mewar dishes, and opulent suites inspired by the architectural and cultural heritage of Udaipur.

Days 9-10
20-21 March 2019: Holi in Udaipur

This morning your Holi experience begins as you explore spectacular Udaipur with your expert guide. You'll visit the grandiose City Palace Museum, all marble and mosaic, the 17th century Jagdish Temple and the spectacular garden of Sahelion Ki Bari. The rainbow celebration of Holi begins with a Holika Dahan ceremony at the city palace, where you'll experience a palace procession and observe royal rituals before the traditional lighting of a sacred fire where an effigy of Holika is burnt. This is followed by the locals performing the 'Gair', a traditional folk dance, and an enormous parade on elephant-lined streets, where locals roam jubilantly among camels and horses. The next morning you'll get the chance to 'play holi' alongside a local family, throwing colourful packets of 'gulal' (powder) over each other as excited locals and tourists alike line the streets. Then, relax in your hotel after the madness of Holi, perhaps in its serene Trident spa, before enjoying an al fresco dinner looking over Udaipur’s Lake Pichola at the The Terrace.

Day 11
22 March 2019: Udaipur/Mumbai

After breakfast, you'll fly to Mumbai before an exciting city tour. Highlights include Dhobi Ghat, called the 'world's largest outdoor laundry' and the Gateway of India, a spectacular 20th century arched monument. You'll also explore Mani Bhavan, which was Gandhi's Mumbai home for 17 years, the Prince of Wales Museum, and a gallery devoted to Buddhist tankha scrolls and Tibetan bronze statues. Then, head to your hotel for this evening, the Trident Nariman Point, offering spectacular ocean views with rooms that are all designed to make the most of the hotel's superb location with floor-to-ceiling windows and vistas of Back Bay, Marine Drive and the city. Tonight, perhaps try out mezze restaurant The Verandah, open 24/7, or Frangipani for Mediterranean and Indian cuisine, while India Jones serves up a pan-Asian fusion, from the delicacies of Japan to the indulgent spices of Thailand. It's a perfect prelude to cocktails at the opulent Opium Den bar.

Day 12
23 March 2019: Mumbai

Today you'll experience a classic Bollywood tour, the first stop being a spectacular Bollywood dance show. Then, you'll visit a film set to watch a live Bollywood shoot, exploring the sets and watching filming before a visit to a recording studio where you'll even have the chance to record your own song. You’ve got the afternoon at leisure, perhaps recharge at the fitness centre, Trident Spa, or outdoor pool which boasts wonderful views over the azaleas to Marine Drive and the ocean beyond.
