Day 2
Reykjavik & surrounds

Today enjoy a Reykjavik city tour, culminating with a delicious lunch at a local cheese school, where you'll get to taste a range of Icelandic cheeses. Then head to Thingvellir National Park, site of the world's first legislative assembly, and the geothermal baths of Laugarvatn Fontana, one of Iceland's top spa and wellness retreats. A lecture on the Northern Lights will be given after dinner, before guests are invited out to the hotel hot tubs to watch for the Lights themselves.

Breakfast, lunch & dinner included

Day 3
Waterfalls, geysers & beaches

Highlights of today include the thundering Gullfoss Waterfall, Strokkur Geyser, which erupts spectacularly at regular intervals, crater lakes, hot springs, black-sand beaches, colourful seaside villages, a private tour of a folk museum and a delicious langoustine dinner.

Day 4
South Iceland

If you're prepared to get wet you can walk behind the face of the Seljalandsfoss Waterfall this morning. Then it's on to the Eyjafjallajökull Information Centre to learn about the volcano that caused so much trouble in 2010, before visiting one of Iceland's finest folk museums and the 60m Skógafoss Waterfall. In the afternoon, choose between a guided walk on a glacier, or continuing by bus to the south coast's giant bird cliffs. There's another Northern Lights lecture in the evening.

Stay: Hotel Grímsborgir

Breakfast & dinner included

Day 5
Depart

Depending on the time of your flight, you may be able to return to the Blue Lagoon for another soak or enjoy a local walk before transferring to the airport and flying home.

Day 6
Reykjanes Peninsula

The final day sees you explore the geothermal wonders, bird cliffs and villages of the Reykjanes Peninsula. You'll also visit a Viking museum, followed by a sumptuous seafood and crab feast and a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa sunk in a lava field.
